Help with accessing Jar/Jad files on device

Hello all... First post here, please be kind

I am trying to mod my girlfriends' new AT&T v3xx phone.

I have followed tutorials here and elsewhere on the web and have gotten to the point where I have all the drivers for the phone loaded and used PK2 Commander to enable the Java Uploader. I have also uploaded games to the device, which is the main reason she wanted the phone modded.

What I am trying to do now is delete the "Demo" games off the phone to free up some more upload slots (as there seems to be a hard limit of 30 games/apps on this device).

I have tried PK2Tools and PK2 commander and am able to browse the file system, but when i go to the kjava directory it doesn't actually list the names of the apps, just random names that I am not able to identify the application.

I used MotoMidMan and some .ini settings i found and I am able to connect to the device and enumerate the list of games. But when i do an operation (like upload or delete) it appears to have completed, but in reality nothing happens on the phone... it is as if MotoMidMan is just tricking me!

Can someone point me towards something that will allow me to:
1) Delete the build in apps on the phone (and preferably back them up)
2) Find and edit a particular Jad file on the phone (I hear I can edit the Tetris JAD to make it a full version!)
3) Explain to me what the difference is between the a\ and e\ locations when I am browsing the device with PK2 commander.
4) Recommend which (if any) of the tools out there I can use as my sole means of modding. It seems like some of these tools are older and I have pieced alot together by browsing various sites. Can I write off any of these tools as too old, and rely only on one or two to do everything I need?

I appreciate any advise you can give this moto n00b....my expertise has been on Windows Mobile devices

thanks!

Oh...also please realize I have a v3xx many of the guides out there don't seem to work for this device...especially MotoMidMan which seems to work fine for other phones, but v3xx owners struggle with this app!

Did you restart your phone after deleting the games with MotoMidMan? I've never used the program but I'm sure you'll need to restart your phone to see any changes.

If you copy all of the files in /kjava to your PC and open any .gif files in an image editor, you can get an idea which files belong to which program. (They're usually the icons that show up in the phone for each app.)

Not sure what that has to do with determining which files go to which java app, which is what my post (answering part of the original post) was about... I have a memory card in my phone, too.

Nobody here asked how to put games on the phone--the OP asked how to make sure the right files were -deleted from- the phone (how to identify which files belong to which built-in app).

can you read it ses... "P2K Phone File Manager. Also known as "P2KMAN". This is one of many file management programs for P2K platform phones like the V3. It allows the transfer of most all files (including seems) and the deletion of "locked" system files that you may want to get rid of."
