Worried about background check !!!!

I very worried about the BC ! I had a DUI that i didnt not disclose before i got my job offer. I was so excited about the job offer until she mentioned "unless something comes up in the background check". So the conditional offer means nothing until drug and background check are done? You'd think they would complete the background check before offering the job. Anyone with this experience? If so what was the turn out? How strict are the BC with At&t?

My experience they are strict. You probably won't get the job because you didnt disclose it to begin with. Now if you would have disclosed it right away you probably would have been fine.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you should have disclosed the issue. That being said, there is a 50/50 chance that you will STILL be fine. Let us know how this turns out. Good luck to you..................

I jumbled my username because i normally use one and it's my login in on AT&T's job site where i applied. Ironic tho, considering how freakin paranoid I am. I already took the drug test. Im certain that's clean. No second hand or anything else.

Your pretty much f'ed.

You should of put it on

People can get denied for a job at AT&T if they didn't disclose the right start and end dates of a job. (well 2 have to be confirmed). I don't think a DUI is going to "slip" through the cracks.

I don't understand why you didn't disclose it. If it had been disclosed you probably would be fine, but the kind of thinking or lack of thinking that got you the DUI is what is going to cost you the job at AT&T.

you should have told them! oh well, keep us updated!!

This all started when I called my friend excited about the offer. I told her all thats left is the drug test and background check. She was like " is your background cool" Im like yeah. I got that DUI four years ago but it should be off my record by now, I satisfied the supervision last year (they sent me a letter saying I had satisfied supervision). She was like " did you get it expunged? Im like no, I got a letter from the state saying I satisfied my supervision and when my license would be cool. She goes " you have to go and get it expunged ! Im thinking WTF ! I thought the offense rolled off your report like a credit report.

I know this seems a little desperate but I left a message for the women who gave me the offer. I put everything else in my background on the what i filled out. I wasnt trying to lie. So when she calls back, im gonna ask if they have completed my background check and if not, can i resubit it with more accurate info. The form asked for crimes you have been convicted off. Im not trying to split hairs but i refuse to let a simple mistake ruin a good opportunity. They say honesty is the best policy so, Wish me Luck !

dude you don't "have to get it expunged", deferred is NOT a conviction. Also, from my experiance, most back ground checks are still able to find expunged offences. Even if you got convited, it does not matter because I have tons of friends who have multiple convictions with a variety offences and still got jobs. The only offences that are pretty much going to screw out of any job are Sexual, Felony/high dollar theft charges, and Assault charges. Really should have told them about though, thats were you screwed up. If the application ask you if you have been CONVICTED of any crime then you can say no but if it mentions deffered then you have to say yes.

I think anybody who has a DUI/DWI should go to jail, no questions asked. Second time, minimum 10 years, 3rd time, life. Its just as deadly as going outside and shooting a gun at random.

Yeah, who needs the 5th and 14th Amendments with their "due process" thing.

I think you should be fine....don't stress out too much on it. I have a friend that works with me at CORE and she had a DUI before she started the job....she stilll got the job...but she didn't disclose it. DOn't stress...since you are working now...just work hard and show your stuff...dui...oh wow...you made a mistake....a extremely stupid one but that doesnt define who you are now...so stop stressing and GET BACK TO WORK!!!!

Update! I haven't heard from AT&T yet. But applied to 2 other places and got both jobs YESTERDAY . I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. Now I'm trying to leverage the other offers, (in my own mind). This is the crazy part, one offer is $2 dollars less full-time. The other $4 dollars more (but part-time) both big companies . The training starts within weeks of each job. I was thinking about going to all of the trainings or at least two of them and getting paid, but I dont want to burn my bridge with any of them, I may need them inthe future. This is why I applied to one company ( AT$T) in the beginning, because I knew I would get the job there. I'VE accepted both offers at this point. One of my BC's and DT came back cool already. I really would hate to work there for a month then quit but that would be about $2800 free dollars for training. I would like to have two jobs but the trainings overlap. Any advice My bottomline is money.
