Tips on Keeping your ketias in mint condition

Hello, I love cellphones just as much as you do but when it comes to maintenance , I'm horrible at it. I'm hoping some pros can come and shed some light before I destroy my p905i.

Current problems that I feel 905i is prone to have (especially if you have the black version)

1) Fingerprint magnet. The piano black is nice but I can already see my fingerprints all over the place

2) Screen protection. Should we actually buy a seperate screen protection or use the transparent tape that they put on by default??

If you know any other ways to help keep the phone in nice condition please also post.

fingerprints are inevitable, and usually only shows up on black phones.. lol
and i don't really think you would need a need a screen protector for a P905i.. firstly, you don't need to protect the screen cuz its in the inside of the phone.. secondly, you can open it by a push of a button, so you don't have to worry about opening it with one hand and scratching it with your fingernails.

other ways would be to use a pouch or a drawstring bag of some sort to protect the phone when it is in pockets or bags, really helps a lot, just be careful not to drop it when taking it out.

Black is such a nice color to get but finger print magnet especially since its hot, you can see all sorts of stuff.
I have black Sh905i and carefully cut protector for the entire front and inside screen.
I havent done the back yet though.
Maybe ordering some sort of custom screen protector will help.

interesting.. so you decided taping the front of the phone as well? are there any protectors out there that actually cover up p905i?

Posted by: crg_zinger1

i think. search for them. i know 920SH has one. exenocide from hwz ordered one. look him up on the 920SH user thread.
he practically gave it a 9.5/10. everything was EXACLY EXACTY perfect in fitting. the .5 bad points point goes to the "NON-ease" or putting it on. its a one time shot on putting it on... if you screw up... tough luck.

Posted by: takumi906

what i did since i couldnt put get a model specific screen protector is i took a universal one meant for psp and cut it to the exact dimensions. i used the left overs to cut two small strips and put it on the metal parts in the front of my sh905i. in addition to that i use a pouch.

To be honest with you I'm super paranoid and cautious about my keitai's condition so I always have screen protectors for the LCD and camera (I cut up a Iphone protector for my P905i lol DIY style) and I always keep the phone in a pouch in order to keep the scratches to a minimum. As for finger prints I keep a cloth in the pouch as well, the same type of cloth you get from screen protectors. I use that to wipe my phone occasionally.

For my other phones I usually keep them in a hardcase or a silicone case (silicone case preferred .....IE my pink silicone case for 903sh XD)

Posted by: aw614

my 904sh lives in a zune pouch, the chrome scratches too easy. SO I just use my 903sh 904t and 705sh the most

i wonder we can use an ipod chrome metal cleaner to remove the scratches off a 904SH.
that'd be nice.
Or i guess use that brasso ppl used on 903Sh surface?
lol
someone one wants to try?

Posted by: P5010

someone should send this to invisible shield and get a full body done...

yep. Thanks!

A issue I've thought of is keeping your keitai in a pouch works if you're a girl but for guys it looks like you're carrying a purse wouldn't it?

I got a black suede pouch for the phone I take when I go out. Because it's suede, whenever I take the phone out or put it in, it automatically cleans the surface from fingerprints.

Awesome, no?

hmm... what about this one it's relatively cheap yet soft material so this one should be fine right? (I think this one will work for guys too since there's black).

Can you post the link for us to see how it looks like?

do you know where I can get that in Canada? Are there any auctions that sell those things in Canada?

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

Carrying a pouch doesn't make you look like your carring a purse...the type of pouch I mean is like this type

Also I said I'd post a picture of my DIY screen protector made with a Iphone screen protector and here it is lol

I did some measurement error and cut a bit too much so it doesn't cover all the screen but its better then nothing >_> I used the spare parts to cover my camera lense too.

pic of DIY screen protector on LCD screen

and camera

@MyLoveForTofu: I see Wing Zero Custom!

Isn't the camera lens screen protector kinda skewed and off to one side?

Posted by: ik999

get a screen protector for the LCD and the camera lens

and keep the phone in a pouch when not in use

Posted by: murdoc2k

I just ordered a screen protector for iphone on ebay to use on my p905i. I'm planning on covering the camera but don't know if I should cover the front LCD (clock display) or the LCD screen inside the phone. I might spend a bit more on another iphone protector just to get my LCD on the inside protected as well.

Posted by: riel

It's an expensive phone already. Do all you can to keep it in pristine condition.

Posted by: murdoc2k

I've got a question for everyone here.

It's ridiculous to pay more than 10 dollars for a pair of sock to hold your phone. But would you pay 8 dollars (shipping included) for a hand knit pouch for your cell phones?

Posted by: riel

If it's the one you posted before, I wouldn't. Looks kiddy; doesn't live up to the phone's elegance.

Posted by: murdoc2k

What about something like this

Posted by: xRiCex

everyone has different tastes if you like it u should jus get it even if some ppl think its ugly soon as u pull out your phone they be like

lol... well I know the person who made this case so I got one from her. But she wanted to know if people actually like this case to see if there's going to be a potential market.

Can you guys rate this case? This case is designed for males.

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

Why yes Riel that's a zero custom lol >_> the light reflected my model kits XD

and personally.....I wouldn't use that as a cell phone pouch....a sock just looks bleh

Thanks for giving a honest feedback. On a bad note... I made another mistake again by buying 1 iphone screen protector for 3 dollars -_- instead of 2 for 5 dollars... frig.. what's with me wasting my money these days

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

lol I got 2 iphone screen protectors for 1 cent and it was 2 dollars shipping XD

Very true.

Your lady friend seems very talented. I would buy that sock she knitted, probably because I like the weaving pattern.

Well when I was typing that I didn't read your previous post so it made me look like some cold hearted guy but if it was made by a close friend then by all means use it to show your appreciation. =) I agree with rice's post you should totally shock them with the appearance of the phone lol.

A pouch made with care is totally better then any other pouch you can get =)

Besides this is really catering towards a niche market so yea what one person sees as ugly or bad might be a treasure to another. So I would say your friend is a entrepreneur and who knows she might earn quite a sum making these.

Btw I didn't mean your pouch I meant I wouldn't use a random pouch made by cutting up a thick sock that Rice was talking about earlier, not a custom knit pouch.

Ps. Yes Riel the part for the camera is partially skewed to the side...I did a bad job cutting it up lol (I didn't have a ruler with me)

I plan on measuring it properly and cutting the screen protector precisely with my measurements later with my spare iphone screen protector when I have time.

Well it's not quite a sock because from what she told me, a sock has that ankle part which makes it look weird if it really was a sock (though it looks like one). So I believe the one that I posted on ebay before and the one that my friend made is actually a sock looking pouch lol.

The word "pouch" slipped my mind.

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

It might be a bad idea to use a pouch like that if it was a hot summer day lol

Although it would be lovely for the winter.

Posted by: murdoc2k

yeah especially in a winter coat you pull that fluffy thing out looks pretty elegant with that pattern
