SEEM EDITING (ROKR Z6m Alltel) questions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok so I've searched and searched to no avail.

P2k - doesn't recognize my phone, although motorola phone tools does.

I've never done this, so treat me as a noob I suppose.

I saw where you can seem edit to "apply as ringtone..." just can't find out exactly "how to" or... I dunno, I'm in a wtf stage...

Just got the ROKR and behold! My precious Alltel motorola's no longer let you make your own ringtones (my 815m was simple, make a ringtone in audacity, put it on the phone, and boom...) Alltel is making me not so happy these days.

SOOOO...

1. does anyone know if it is possible to get P2k to recognize the ROKR

2. if anyone knows of some other work around, let me know... this is about to drive me nuts listening to wind chimes and triads

Thanks in advance!

Z6 models are NOT P2k, therefore P2k Tools does not recognize it. It is a linux based phone, like V8. For seem editing on this device you need FlexBit editor. But, dont hope too much, there is only few flexbits known.
Google for rasputin007 site, look under flexbit section.

Z6m phones are not Linux based (whereas Z6 are Linux): they are BREW based. I have one sitting in front of me right now, and, were it Linux based, I would be MUCH happier.

I may be hijacking this thread a tiny bit, but I have gotten usbserial to produce
/dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 (see http://www.arachnoid.com/linux/linu...net_access.html for setting up usbserial)

I have been unable to get MOTO4LIN to work usefully on this model. After switching to p2k mode,

Quote:
usb 4-2: USB disconnect, address 6
generic ttyUSB0: generic converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0
usbserial_generic 4-2:1.0: device disconnected
generic ttyUSB1: generic converter now disconnected from ttyUSB1
usbserial_generic 4-2:1.1: device disconnected
usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 7
usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

errors generated in dmesg. Apparently the first error isn't hindering MOTO4LIN too much? Anyway, if you have figured out how to do this, please let me know.

For some reason I can get MPT to connect to my z6tv and do file transfers sometimes. No seem edits or anything. All I did different from my old 816 was rename the file from .mp3 to .qcp.
P.S. Follow follow mark's seem edit guide for the V9 and it will work for the Z6.
You use MSU then save the seem with P2K commander, edit with PK seem, then load back on with commander. I had to do this to be able to get the web browser menu for my Hopke net to work.
