I have a friendi SoCal that experienced a personal "outage" in his BB yesterday. After hours on the phone with AT&T...they finally routed him to RIM, and they reported that an isolated bank of servers had gone on the blink late Monday evening...and into most of yesterday. That might have been your issue too.

I've been having pretty bad BIS service lately as well. Last few days. I've deleted and added my accounts.

I am able to send emails ok from both my gmail and yahoo accounts but receiving is a whole other problem.

Tech support reset my WAP gateway to the internet or something didn't fix it.

Going to call them again.

How fast do people's emails get pushed for their imap gmail account and their regular (free) yahoo account to their blackberrys?

I'll join the club. I've had BIS issues for the last two days as well. Mail has been sporatic.

I'm good to go. My gmail is pushing the new emails faster than I get the "ding" in vista of a new email.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Problems Friday morning, problems Monday morning, and now problems this morning. I have my work email pushed with the desktop redirector and I have my gmail pushed. One or the other doesn't work each morning. I don't get it. It's quite annoying. Yesterday it was gmail and today it's my work email. I know I have email comes I am on my work computer as I am typing this!

Meh. I'd say that's to be expected for Redirector based on my experience with it. BES is definitely the way to go if you can afford it and it fits your needs. Definitely far fewer problems from what I've seen over the years.

Just a note...there is supposed to be a BIS/BES outage that will effect some users this Saturday morning...quoting below from Kevin Michaluk of Crackberry.com:

"Looks like RIM is holding another planned service outage, this time for "system upgrades". If you're located in "The Americas", your BlackBerry service could be affected. The upgrade is planned during the "regular maintenance window" of 2am - 6am EST for this Saturday morning, May 3rd. Unless you're pulling an all-nighter, you should be ok on this one.

Don't believe me? Call RIM's Customer Support line at 1-877-255-2377 and you can hear a lovely pre-recorded message saying the same thing! :-) "
