Now i see the sticky, buit ive heard things left and right. Im stuck between music tones and Ringo. I dont mind paying the 30 bones for it, but after my constant troubles with palm, i wanna have the in and outs, the pros and cons of both. Im sure this forum has both users on it so guys any help would be appreciated. Also are any of these known to cause looping resets?

Electricpocket makes quality software. I havent used Ringo personally but I have heard a lot of good things about it. I use RingCare by GoTreoSoftware.com personally.

smarterphoner... i will check it out. But why did u chhoose that over ringo? im lookin kinda for first hand reviews. ive had some issues with my palms before , and well before i install new software i wanna know what to expect and so on. i do want custom ringtones rthough because this generic **** is bothering me haha. Thank you for the response!!!

Well I got RIngcare because GoTreoSoftware makes good software too. They are the one that makes the famous VolumeCare that boost the sound on the Treo considerabley. I choose Ringcare because it seems to be easier on memory and I dont see the crash reports reported by others using Ringo.

hey man thanks i appreciate it. im going to be lookin into these all more so. i just dont wanna have my palm crash and get a looping reset....again.

I've used all of them, and now using Music tones to convert MP3 to built in ringtones and the built in individual ringers.

Before that, I really liked Ringcare alot as well, jusrt was having oocasional problems with my sd card so wanted teh ringtones on the main palm - since I dont assign more than a dozen unique ringtones.

I believe teh new Beta of Hobbyist Phone Technician can also work with individual ringtones and you should try that as well and let us know - and do a free trial of the Beta.

I think its easier to:

1. Use audacity to edit your Mp3's into 25 second clips with fade-ins and fade-outs. (excellent free program)
2. Use minitones (also an excellent free program) to enable them as ring-tones.
3. Enjoy your phone.

I just find it pointless to pay money for a program that lets you edit MP3s in your phone, when you could do it on your computer and for free.

I think Kinoma Player is quite good. So is TCPMP (which is free). You would have to search around on Google for the files though has it has since morphed into a Paid version called Coreplayer

what kind of "mixed reviews" did you hear about minitones. if you know what an .mp3 file is and how to drag a slider along a bar to a specific point (to set beginning and endpoint) then there should be no problem. I have used minitones on my 680 to create ringtones from .mp3 files that were on the sd card or the internal memory, along with using it to create alarms I use with butler, and replacements for the default alert sounds. minitones is by far the simplest, most stable, and free-ist ringtone program for the palm os.
.....
still don't understand why palm os users are always more inclined to look for a way to get the most expensive version of a tool for a task.....

tcmp is great and its free. kinoma is good if you are on a fast network and can take advantage of all of the streaming video offered in the media guide. kinoma is also useful for playing .mp4 files if you don't have the paid version of pockettunes.
