Setting songs as ringtone on Z9?

Anyone know how to set songs you have uploaded and stored to your miniSD card as your ringtone? I can find the songs and play them with the media player but when i try to find them on my phone it will only show me the artist title or album title but none of the songs within.

To be set as ringtones, the files must be 300KB or less.

That is correct. Most, if not all, AT&T branded phones now have a 300kb size limit on ringtones. If you debrand the phone, you will be able to use any size ringtone.

Any ideas why they did this?

Yeah, me either, I only ask b/c I went from my ATT branded HTC 8525 that would play the full song if it rang that long to this phone that doesn't even show the song as an option.

Yah my unlocked V9 lets me use any song as a ringtone. This is an at&t modification and can be remedied by a seem edit. I believe the same one used on the V9.

I am not sure why they did it. Previous phones, even ones up until this year were only limited to 500kb. With Motorola's, some can be seem edited to remedy this. Sony Ericssons can be debranded, so can Motorola's, and it will eliminate all of the restrictions that AT&T puts on their phones.

On Samsung or LG phones, however, you are pretty much screwed.

BTW, just like the post says you have to removed all MP3's from phone, then put them back in place before being able to set larger files for ringer IDs. I actually had ringtones on phone all under 300k, then all my full length song on memory card, I just removed those on my card then moved them back to the card and it worked fine.
