Iphone won't lock when charging

I just realized my iphone won't lock when I am charging it, the screens goes darker but does not lock. Is that normal? there is nothing in the user guide that I could find. I have set the auto lock at 1 min. In normal use it locks ok.

Do you have it plugged into a wall charger or your computer? I have a touch in my car and when it's plugged in and paying music, it won't go to sleep. It just dims the screen so I can change songs easily. I don't remember if my iPhone did that, but they're very similar.

Mine locks but only if it isn't playing music.

Mine locks whether I'm charging via the USB port or the wall plug.

i mainly charge through USB charger will not lock

just tried it into the wall socket still wont lock
