hi there.
just wanna debrand my rogers k850i

there a way i can do it myself, with a mac, or is it like go to pac mall and 20$ later it's debranded...

I done mine with Davinci Team. Gotta say though, I'm not sure it's worth it! Unless Rogers firmware is preventing you from using certain functions of the phone I wouldn't bother. For me it just changed the Menu screen icons, and they are ugly as hell!

TBH I actually lost functionality, I had the Orange Photography app on there which just refuses to work on the debranded phone. And with free online storage, unlimited photo uploads (to Photobox, who are an excellent developer BTW) and 30 MMS for £4 per month I might be rebranding my phone soon.

well i can't use mp3s as ringtunes on the phone with the rogers brand

As far as I know, none of the debranding programs work with Macs. Unless you can boot up in Windows, you might as well go to the Pac mall and fork over the $20.

jmpmjmpm - try changing your theme. You are probably using a flash theme. If you need to, load a different theme on there from a site like www.lasyk.net or www.zedge.net the icons should go back to the original ones.

pay 35 and i didn't have any music on my phone, and then they said it was unlocked, then ****ing it's not ....

um you can use DRM packager for the mp3 ringtones though..

If you just wanted the ability to set MP3 ringtones, the $35 is not worth it. Plus, I think right now, after unlocking you'll also need to manually set the internet settings back on the phone.

Using the DRM Packager might not be as convenient, but at least you can still do it to any mp3s you like. With the current trade off, leaving it locked isn't that bad, unless you want to use your phone with overseas sim cards.

I am in the same boat as the thread starter but I have access to windows too. So I want to know what tools I will need. Is the DaVinci Team method the only one available?
