used to SE phones, need a new one

Since I chucked my old phone(Sony Ericsson Z710i) at a wall and destroyed it, I need a new phone. It must have:

1) Bluetooth voice dialing, since the new laws don't permit to handle my phone while driving anymore, I need to be able to make phone calls reliably through a Bluetooth headset.
2) Able to use mp3 or wma as ringtone. My Sony Ericsson did it(even though mine was locked) with wma ringtones and it was pretty good. The Motorola W500 I have now can't do jack.
3) T9 with learning. Anyone familiar with SE UI knows how good their sms/t9/predictive text. It can learn words and keep them forever.
4) Good reception.
5) Bluetooth
6) <$250 CDN unlocked. I'm in Canada, and my provider is Fido, not changing service so.

One thing I absolutely hate is the Motorola UI(I guess in it's locked form, it is completely useless, W500 = most garbage phone). Never really tried any other phone.

you obviously mean the OLD motorola UI called synergy. the new one called LJ is significantly improved and compares favourably to that of sony ericsson(but without all the WSOD's, bugs, glitches, and sudden death syndrome common in sony ericssons) and nokia's s40.

you could try the moto v8.

You can get the s500i, which is like the younger sibling or the w580i, for about 200 unlocked. I prefer the s500i over the w580i, despite I hate SE altogether. Colours are better too. Black on Green ftw.

Just wondering, how do you figure that it is the younger sibling? They are almost identical phones.

I never got any bugs or glitches on any of my Sony Ericsson phones. I've owned 3.

I'll look into the S500i thanks.

you've been lucky.
watch out for the cracking keys.

It seems like the W580i is more prone to the cracking keys. They are interchangeable, but the W580i keypad is a little different.

I guess I just call the s500i the younger sibling because it was out before the 580i. So I guess maybe it's the older sibling? lol

K790a is around that range.

oh yeah, it must be either slider or flip. i hate candy bars.

That is too bad, K790a is a solid performing phone.
