transferring pics and videos from motorolla z6tv to windows XP

I recently purchased the Motorola z6tv. I wanted to transfer my videos and pictures onto my computer which uses windows XP. i bought a Usb cable to do this and when i plug my phone in my cpu cannot recognize the phone and it says i need to install driver software.....so i called verizon tech support and they said that i have to buy a memory card and a memory card adapter to plug into my pc......is there any way i can hack it so i can transfer the videos and pictures from my phone to my pc using a usb cable?????????????????
