Do you reboot your iPhone more than once a day.

Seeing as the N-95 seems to be the most talked about phone in the iPhone forum i'll add a little fuel to the fire

Compare results here;

Naturally this is completely unscientific and will be voted on by all the N-95 users so a large grain of salt should be taken.

I'll go first, once a day average.

Every day is different...some days it's zero, other days it could be 2, 3, 4 times. I think it has something to do with the tides.

The poll would probably be a bit better if we could distinguish between OTB, and jailbroken/unlocked.

I'm OTB -- and I usually go a month or more without needing to reboot my phone.

Granted, Safari can crash out from time to time ... but the phone overall is rock solid. Gotta love the Unix core.

Mine is a stock standard 114 phone, and it NEEDS resetting at least once a day to free up RAM, prevent apps locking up etc..

I don't really believe any phone can run without a reboot every so often, either iPhone or N-95, at the very least a firmware upgrade requires a reboot, as do some app installs on the N-95. So IMHO the last option in the poll shouldn't even be an option but I just wanted it to match the other poll.

mine doenst need reseting, but im a reset freak so id say 2/3 times a day XD

Posted by: shaolinmonk

usually about 2-3 times a week because i installed something that requires reboot lol...

through normal usage maybe once a week...

I reboot my iphone 1.1.4, jailbroken and unlocked around once per week. I remember when I was using my P1i, I could use it for more than 45-60 days without rebooting.

I reboot it about once a week. The OS is rock solid, I've never had it totally crap out/slow down/etc and require a reboot. I usually only reboot it so it'll pick up the towers near my house and get better reception.

Com on! You've never experienced a slow down? Safari quitting? The iPod crashing? You must be the only one....

He's not the only one. I can go months without rebooting, OTB phone. Yep, Safari crashes out sometimes. And I'd never thought that maybe a reboot could improve this -- but I don't find the Safari crashing to be frequent enough to worry about. It's usually only on ginormous web pages, anyway (but it is something that Apple needs to fix).

We got my Fiancee one a month ago, I don't think she even knows that you can reboot it - it's been on ever since she got it around St. Patty's Day.

You don't have my option.... I reboot about once a month if it is acting up, but so-far it has been 2 months and no problems. I surf & text constantly so I would say the iPhone is pretty stable.

Clean install of 1.1.4 and no jailbreak/unlock. When I was jailbroken yeah it was about 2 times a week on the reboot, for a work phone I can't have that so I am staying clean for now

Nope, same here, but as I said no jailbreak and no hacking now, summerboard for me was the biggest crasher around.

It can reboot?!?

Posted by: Reznor9

I never have to reboot unless I install a program that requires me to do so. Sometimes I experience a program crash but usually I'll just start the program back up and its fine. I've never experienced slowdown in any app.. Like i said one in a blue moon one will crash out but that's it. FYI, I'm jailbroken and unlocked for tmobile using Pwnage on 1.1.4.

I have had my same iPhone since it launched last year and outside of the software updates I have purposely rebooted it maybe 5 times. At times I am sure I must have hit a month uptime on it but I really don't keep track I do it so infrequently.

edit- I picked never because 1/week is still far too often for me to pick, there should have been a choice for 1/month and I would have picked that because never is still a little of an overstatement for my usage.

What's up with all these polls/threads to spite the N95 users.. lol

Anyways, I reboot my phone about once a week just to free up RAM and keep it running smooth.

Posted by: XanderMac

Strangely enough they're normally started by N-95 users! As I said, the N-95 seems to be the most popular, discussed phone in the iPhone forum.

LOL.

Quite true.

With so much interest in here on Nokia phones, and the N95, someone should ask Howard to make a forum dedicated to those handsets.

.................................................. ............... oh, wait. Nevermind. There's two.

To me it just goes to show how dispirited N-95 users really are, they see a vast group of people that are extremely happy with their phones and have to come over to convince us just how misguided we really are. Shame their own phones don't generate just as much outside interest.

I have Safari crashes, sure who doesn't, but it just crashes me to the home screen, no unresponsiveness or lag involved I can restart it right up. Never had the iPod crash on me though, whether running it in the background or with the iPod screen. I've never jailbroken my iPhone though, only run stock firmware with AT&Ts iPhone plans, so I'm not surprised nothing has gone wrong haha.

I reset about every other day.

Posted by: Derek Zoolander

i reset once about every 10 days. I am completely unlocked/jailbroke and I have tons of apps and themes

Posted by: Wide_opeN

Resetting once a day keeps the foolishness away.

Yeah when something is sooo successful, people have a natural inclination to dislike or want to root for the underdog (look at all the Patriot haters from this past season). I for one was a doubter before but now realize I was only cheating myself. I think this is the case for a lot of the naysayers that post here.

I have hardly had to reboot the phone though if you see the Apple docs they do recommend that since its an OS it is a good idea to reboot occasionally. I haven't noticed any laginess over days of usage which is a good thing. Some apps like the mobile safari download plugin requires a reboot, infact that's the only app I have that required a reboot. Finder app crashed on me once when renaming a file, that caused a reboot.

Posted by: kinderco

I reboot ever day but I don't need too....just I'm overly anal retentive about that kind of stuff.

to free up ram? i thought that was a WM thing (as xandermac put it)

Posted by: canadian studen

^ it's also an iPhone thing.

Posted by: hybrid90accord

its funny that so many people jumped ship from windows mobile devices because of lock up, freezes, and other system issues and though the IPhone was the key and guess what it does that same thing, lol. but foreAL I ONLY REBOOT mine ever free weeks or so.
