Need help transfering music files to p905i

I know I know... you people would tell me to read the manual and let me tell you I have. In fact, I've read this:

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/s...highlight=P905i

I followed the instructions on that thread which gave me 3 options to try

1) SD-Audio : well.. for this option.. MOOCS (SD-jukebox) didn't work (it just won't load up saying sd-jukebox.exe is missing). so I had to try plan 2

2) 3GPP/AAC: ok so I tried to download the Calcium 3GPP converter and it turns out the link on that thread is messed up so I searched for it on google went into this Japanese site and tried to worked it from the thread's instructions but failed to find what hencans was talking about. I tried doing a 3GPP + AAC conversion anyways and turns out the program crashes when it's done converting. So I have to try plan 3

3) Windows Media player: now this option I really don't want to try. It's the most recommended method because it's easy but it's the method where it requires a USB data cable (something I'm very reluctant to buy after spending near 700 dollars on this phone). I haven't tried it yet as I don't have a USB cable, but I'm really hoping that someone can guide me on perhaps option 1 or 2 so that I don't need to buy that extra data cable. If you have experience with option 1 or 2 or both please do post below with detail instructions. Thanks again.

I read somewhere that after SD-Jukebox 5.3 you can use the card reader. Sorry if you've tried that already.

Posted by: murdoc2k

well I have a card reader because I use R4 for DS and that comes with a microSD card reader. I can access my SD card no problem. The only problem is getting a converter that can convert mp3 to 3GP format so it accepts it as 3GP/ACC format.

murdoc2k for getting the moocs player to work you'll need to install Microsoft AppLocale and run the installer file using it, only then will the program properlly install. But once you have it installed, good luck on it reconising your card reader, its quite a picky program..

As for HE-AAC its actually not worth it going through all that trouble since the phone wont even recognise it, trust me i tried and the closest thing was the phone playing it but not on the music player but only on the video player but without picture..

Windows media player was by far the easiest, trust me once i went and bought a data cable transfering music was much easier and you wont have to buy an original sharp usb cable, you can even use a panasonic one (mines an aftermarket panasonic one)

well I got music playing by simply converting Mp3 to MP4 so it just doesn't show any video. But.. then again, the music player doesn't work with mp4 files =/ I need an interface where I can make song lists and put on repeat and such.

I agree with you on the HE-AAC part... I haven't got it to work myself and as for MOOCS I have installed Microsoft App-local before hand so I'm not sure what's going on.

I guess I have no choice but to consider the USB cable after all

hi! i have SH905i and i have USB cable, but i can't install everything, it's too difficult! uhhhh
can you help me?

Posted by: Darthchilli

windows media and mac
not friendly
LOL

Posted by: Marco_92

i know but windows media player doesn't ricognise my SH905i...
so i think i have to install drivers, programs etc. that are in the CD...
but it's so difficult! OOOOOH i don't understand anything....plz tell me i can use my mobile without drivers too

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

Even when you install all the drivers properly it probably won't detect it. My official docomo usb cable + P905i doesn't even get detected on my WMP and I'm running on Windows XP. It detects sd mode or communication mode but not MTP mode. So each time I want to transfer music I either shove it in as a form of a video (an actual music video) or steal my friends laptop which has vista installed D:

its a pain

just a question for you guys... I've seen "charger" usb cables on ebay and "data transmission" usb cable on ebay.

I'm just wondering does that mean charging usb cables only charge power? Can it also perform data transfer? It seems kinda dumb to me if they make a "charger" usb and then a separate data transmission usb =/

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

>_> get the data transmission cable just to be safe lol

the one I got is a charger/data cable which has a button that lets me switch between charge/data

Posted by: murdoc2k

ah icic... how much did you get it for and where did you get it?

I thought you could charge + transfer at the sametime. My SE w810i has a data cable which does both once you plug the USB into your computer it starts charging and lets you transmit files as well...

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

Well it lets me connect to the pc regardless of whether its charging or not but its better if it doesn't charge my phone 24/7
Got it on ebay for like 12 dollars awhile back.

hmm.. that's true.. I have a charging dock for that... You said 12 dollars.. does that include shipping?

Posted by: MyLoveForTofu

shipping was free lol since the seller was also in Toronto where I lived

Posted by: Rakukojin

The 903SH USB cable works with the P905i right? If so then this is probably the cheapest cable you can get (only $8 shipped).

I asked the seller, and he said that it doesn't work with it. Though you can get it from this seller on ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Data-transm...1QQcmdZViewItem ), but it cost a little bit more (US$17 after shipping).

well that's a bit confusing because KardBoard told me that it works. I think he's using it for his p905 right now to transfer music.... I'll confirm with him to see if he's currently using it. But on HZ forum, they're saying it works with 903SH cable I think MyLoveForTofo says it also works.

if it doesn't, then I'm in big trouble cause I ordered it lol...

Plus we're talking about a 10 dollar difference.. if the 903 cable works I'm definately going with that (it's around 8 dollars CAD for 903 cable).

Posted by: joshyth

well if the cheaper one work, that suck for me, cause i just paid to order the more expensive one. xD Though i'm getting the offical docomo usb cable instead of the third party one.

Posted by: ryanfok

this is a stupid question, but where do i plug my usb? i cant find the slot

Posted by: murdoc2k

at the front of the phone. It's on the opposite side to the "p905i" logo. There should be a tab where you can pull out and plug in the usb.

Posted by: joshyth

it's at the bottom of the keypad

here's a pic of where it's located

That is correct too. That slot is for charger / USB.

Why download an extra program when we have WMP 11 installed by default?

Posted by: MODist

Can I just copy WMA files to the specified directory of the microSD card usin' my laptop or do I have to do it using USB cable?

if you are using the LEGIT version of window xp, then it should be updated to SP3 by now, which will include WMP11.

Also, you guy are so lucky to transfer song using your pc, i'm using a mac and there's no way to transfer song at all. At the moment, i just use the computer on campus or my friend's computer to transfer song, though i'll probably install window vista on my macbook pro using boot camp later.

PMall overcharges for everything, unless you know the staff. I got my USB cable for $2, when they were selling for ~$15.
