It's dead, Jim.
Does anyone know, is there anything I can do to take my 8525 apart and try to clean it up and possibly let it dry up and pray it will work? If not, I'll probably look into that $150 Premier offer for a refurb Tilt. I hate refurbs but I'm pretty low on options at this point, because I killed my poor 8525.

If you yanked the battery out right away, you might get lucky. Let it sit in a dry area for 1-2 weeks and then try and power it back on. I've heard of more than one story where that worked. Now, if it became completely submerged in water while it was on, you might be out of luck.
By the way, what's wrong with refurbs?

Put it in a bowl of plain dry rice.... the rice will help soak up the water... once in a while run a blowdryer on low heat for a min or two... leave it in the rice for 2-3 days.
been there....done that....
Good luck.

A quick dip in denatured alcohol will also disperse the water and dry it out then allow to air dry for 24-48 hours. I have personally used this method with 3 different phones belonging to friends and relatives, one that went t o the bottom of a swimming pool last summer and it still in use. I keep a bottle handy just for emergencies, works on basically any electronic device that gets wet. Nothing is a sure fire method, if certain components get wet while battery is still in place, chances are nothing can be done.

I dropped my 8125 in the toliet (long story there
) and I let it dry out for a couple days and it would work but the LCD was screwy.
So, I played the 'Dumb customer' roll and called warranty and yes it got replaced with a refurb for a $50 deductible
I know what's not supposed to happen, but it never hurt to ask.
