---------------------------------------------- WHAT YOU"LL NEED -usb cable that came with the phone -BitPim installed on your computer ---------------------------------------------- 1)plug the phone into your computer using the usb cable. When asked if you want to "connect phone to pc using usb" say NO or BitPim won't connect. 2)start up BitPim, choose the 8800 for phone type. Under 'view' select 'View Filesystem'. Put your ringtones in the filesystem here: brew>shared>ringtones DONE! A couple of points: -save your ringtone as mp3 -max length of 30 seconds -if you use Audacity set the mp3 to highpass of around 300 to limit the bass so it won't distort Hope that helps you Telus users! I spent a while troubleshooting to figure this out! |

What may work on the VX may not work on the LG !!!!!! The Bitpim works fine to put ringtones on my phone. However when I go to the phone to sellect the new ring tone, its not there. When I go back and restart the Bitpim program and check my phone it show up. But back on my phone there is no ringtone in the folder.....What gives. |

I don't have caller ID, so when these phones call me it just says "no ID." Does anyone know if I require that to get these custom rings to work? FYI, I'm with Telus if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance. |

you will need to unzip after you download, then install(setup.exe) drivers. once you have done that then you can plug in your Venus via USB. BUT, if you already searched for your Venus via Bitpim, you may have to uninstall Bitpim and reinstall so that it clears the previous search results(erroneous comm port result). now you can follow Leetamus's very helpful instructions. P.S. i found that i could only drop mp3 files one at a time into the ringtone window on the far right, EACH song meant rebooting b4 i could drop another song file in. what a pain in the azz. i rebooted the phone once the last file was added just for good luck. thanks and best of luck, B_G |

Hi all I am new to this forum but I read all the threads as I just got my Venus 8800 very recently and wanted to access it. All the problems encountered by the other owners and the instructions that were provided by all you kind hearted souls out there made it very easy for me to download, install and access my phone. I downloaded the test version of Bitpim that came out on December 12th 2008 and installed it, I then reinstalled the USB drivers from the phone. When I installed Bitpim I did not let the program start after the install but deselected the autostart option and then finished the install. After the USB drivers were installed I started the Bitpim program then manually set Bitpim to the Venus 8800 using the wizard. I found that the wizard will not let you select the Telus Venus 8800 but automaticaly selects the Verizon one, don't change it back to Telus as it won't detect your phone but the Verizon one works perfectly. The lastest Bitpim Test program works perfectly as well.
Have one on me!!
