Anyone using a none 3G phone with AT&T wireless web service?

I was wondering what the internet would be like if I switch to AT&T with my device. It's not a 3G phone, it's EDGE. Would it even work or would I just receive the best of EDGE speeds?

there is really nothing "best" about EDGE speeds, but you would be getting EDGE.

OK. I guess so. I almost forgot the iPhone is also an EDGE phone and the internet is pretty good for it.

I'm not sure I'd say pretty good. It's usable and barely. I find it funny how so many websites made iPhone specific websites when the whole point of the iPhone was to get the "real" Internet. Anyway, I digress.

Yes, you're phone will work on the AT&T network, but I would make sure it has at least the 1900 and 800 (850) bands. AT&T uses both of those and if you're missing the 800 band, you'll lose out on coverage.

if you use opera mini, EDGE works very nicely, way faster than any current iphone. i'm easily (and quickly) posting this from my 8125 while out at the lake in the boonies on hofo's full desktop site for example...

Agreed. I love Opera Mini.
