My 80+ father will soon be switching from Sprint to ATT.

With older people, simplicity is important. I looked at the free phones on the website and none of them look simple enough for him.

I have a prepaid Nokia 1600 that uses the ATT network. It is a very simple and easy to use phone. He has used it and he likes it.

Could he put his sim in something like that? Maybe we could switch sims? I know that my sim will work in any ATT GSM phone, but would it work vice versa?

I'm not sure whether the 7-Eleven phones are locked or not, but I guess if all else fails you could pay to get it unlocked. Another option maybe worth looking into is searching for an unlocked/Cingular phone from back in the day as some of them are probably pretty cheap now.
