How is the quality of calls using Jajah?

I heard about Jajah in another forum and wonder how well it really works. Also, supposedly it offers great savings for overseas calls. How does the user pay? Do you have to charge it to your credit card? Has anybody out there used it?

Thanks,
Relztrah

I've been using Jajah for over a year. I started with Yahoo call & I love it. But I hate the fact that I gotta be stuck to my PC with a headset to make a call. That's when I decided to try Jajah.

At first, for the most part the service had a lot of echo, the volume was low & sometimes the other party could not hear you.

I started to use it again about 3 months ago & so far it's been like Yahoo call. Pretty good.

With both choices, u gonna save a lot of $. With Jajah, u can make free calls to some countries. They give u the instructions. I never tried it tho.

I used to have AIM Phone line & that was good as well, I had unlimited calls to some countries. But AOl has changed the service to AIM Call Out. Pretty much like Jajah.

I will give that a try this week. I'll let u know my experience.

I have used Jajah.com and the calls were clear for me. I had to set up the calls using a web page and then both parties received a call via normal landline. I have used it mostly for calls to/from Germany. Works great for landlines and the fees are very good. They are supposed to allow calls from cell phones also, but your phones must support java and be on their supported list.

I should also add that the calls are free between phones with Jajah accounts. You have to use the web interface to place the call. Calls to mobile phones (on a Jajah account) in the US are free but those elsewhere in the world may have a substantial charge. Check their rate sheet.

I'm still wondering how I pay for the service. It must be with a credit card for the paid calls, right?

And another question: What if I'm using dial-up internet? Obviously I would be using the phone line for my internet connection and it would be unavailable for the call. In that case I'm assuming that I would have to make the Jajah call with a cell phone.

Thanks for your help. I haven't used it yet, but I'm looking at all the options.

I think I use a paypal account, but can't remember. Either that or credit card.

You can use the internet on one line and have jajah call the other. You can have up to three numbers per account and direct the call to which phone you want. I think you can also have a forwarding number.

There is a free trial with 5 minutes of useage. You can try it out.

You don't need High Speed connection to use Jajah. U just gotta go to the Jajah site everytime u make a call.

The good thing is that JaJah will give u a Local phone number for every contact u save in your address book. If you're not next to a PC, you can call from your phone or cell and u will use your Jajah credits.

For example, I call my cousin in Italy & I saved his long distance number in the address book. Jajah gave me a local US number that if I call that #, the call will get forward to my cousin in Italy.

And Jajah is a prepaid service, u pay by credit card everytime u wanna add credits to your account.

I find that OneSuite has just about the best rates anywhere in the world, withour using a computer.

You can even set it up, so that it recognizes the phone (number) that you are calling from so that all you have to do is call a local number and then at the prompt dial 011 .. etc.

Call quality has been excellent over the past few years. You get a virtual phone card. No BS fees, taxes etc added

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

I believe you can try it for free. Give it a shot and try for yourself.
