SMS and .02
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

There have been so many changes with my phone in the last couple of days, I haven't been very good at sorting through them. Notation wise, I mean.
When I first added the SMS gateway via the new RSS, I dismissed it as not being supported yet. I added a Service Center number that I found on another thread and it wouldn't let me in. Forgot what it reported...
Last night I upgraded to .02 (Thanks S. Jersey people). Today I noticed that my "mobil e-mail alerts" go to my text inbox and more options seem to be available. Tonight I tried sending a text message to my wifes phone number. Now it appears to be going though the Service Center and then reports "number not in service". Her phone does not have an IP so I assumed this is what it meant.
The question is; Has anybody else noticed this, or am I just confused?
Perhaps someone could try it between two phones w/ip's and .02 software...
Thanks

Is this on the topic of recieving your SMS messages into your phone instead of being on the web? If so that'd be great, I'd be willing to give it a shot but I do not have the "new" RSS as you call it... =\ All I have is Carrier RSS 1.14.02 and Super Agent 1.15.02. Will these work with enabling the SMS system on the i95 or is there a later version?
Posted by: Matt Calhoun
u need Carrier 01.15.03 to enable "MO-SMS"
Posted by: xtra
nope, i enable MO-SMS in carrier 01.15.02 .

FILE QUARANTINED

Antigen for Exchange removed SuperAgent011503.zip->Setup.exe since it
was found to match the FILE FILTER= *.exe file filter.

Ok... I'm not having a good day. :-/ I guess my virus scanner too the EXE even though there was no virus...
I gotta find the original file.. Sorry guys.

its all good...A for effort
Posted by: NexVision
So seeing as how we got off topic has anyone figured out if mo sms will work
Posted by: HaTaX
Focus, Thanks for the effort, I know you'll get it back to life. If you don't want to change the anti-virus settings you could even just rename the exe to ex_ and we can rename it.
Thanks man!

lol, i just used the other version of it, let me check off the box, now what

Anyway...
What had changed was driving me nuts so I downgraded to .01 today to find out.
All I really had to do was go back into RSS and disable MO SMS...It seems what is different with it enabled is that you don't have to open the phones' browser to get your text messages. Instead they are delivered to the text inbox which is now in messages. The options are better (access to the phone book for replies) and quick text messages are stored on the phone. I still can't send from the outbox w/o a valid Service Center number. That was the "number not in service" report.
This all leads me to believe that it is server side. So for now, the only way I can text from my phone is through the browser to the server that stores my quick replies and contact list (slow, clunky, and only current if I have sent my phone book to the server and transfered this info into my contacts list on Nextels web site). However the browser "Text Messages" menue item is not available w/MO SMS enabled...
So back to disabled and using the browser...suck!
BTW: Besides updating my rings and papers (I kinda jumped into the upgrade like a little bizatch) downgrading then reinstalling .02
Let me find out that the Java "Download Apps" program works if it is installed after the upgrade...
Thanks for your support...
Sully, any server side upgrades coming soon?

So no one wants to share the wealth of 15.02? All I can find is that 14 version and the SuperAgent.

Sorry Dude,
It wasn't until someone PM'ed me on this subject did I remember the site that I got it from had it mislabled as Super Agent 15.02. It was right next to Super Agent 15.03. I d'loaded them both. SA 15.03 installed as SA. SA 15.02 installed as Carrier. As Gerbil pointed out, only Carrier 15.02 has the "enable MO-SMS" option. I did not find a Carrier 15.03...
BTW; I saw on another thread that you were looking into working SMS Service Centers. Thanks, keep me in the loop.
I can't recall which site I got the files from. I believe it was an FTP listed on HoFo that is only up from 12 am to 6 pm daily, if this helps...
Posted by: cparker
Got it already...no working numbers though. I just got my data cable already and I had been preparing all the applications and things I wanted to do when I got it. Everything has been accomplished!

Did you get this information from a valid source?
If you did, do you know how the charges will be? If they will offer an unlimited version of it?

Maybe Nextel should join the bandwagon and provide this FREE SERVICE for FREE like all the other phone companies do...

After talking w/some folks from across the seas about MO-SMS (in the lands where they talk funny they’ve been using SMS for quite awhile) once Nextel enables the system we would pro'lly be billed through a Nextel messaging center. When this happens we could change to a free center and not be billed provided it is part of whatever package that Nextel offers. Sort o’ like the premium web work around, dig?
According to one dude (actually a chick dude) this is a pain in the buttocks. Most of the "free" centers are provided by corporations or organizations for use by their employees/members. Once the number is passed around on the net the servers overload and they tighten security. 2 weeks later you’re tossed and are looking for another "free" number along with the other million or so freeloaders and the cycle repeats.
However, a center set up with a caller ID Gateway that requires registration would pro'lly solve this. We would then see "free" being offered as long as they could squirt 5-10 adverts (as she calls them) into your inbox each day. Me, I don't need to be reminded every 45 minutes that my maleness could be enhanced nor do I need any x10 spy cams. So I suppose I'll end up paying for the service when it becomes available.

I wonder if when they do that we'll finally be able to send messages to international phone numbers as well. Does anyone know about the options it gives you when you send an outgoing message? Fax is an option as well as a whole host of other things.
