HTC PPC 6800 or Blackberry or...?

I live and travel in a rural area, had to have a UM150 for home internet.

Alltel is the only provider that works consistently in this area. Top priority for a new cell is high speed internet access with a easily readable screen and email. Camera/video, IM would be nice but not a requirement.

I was leaning toward the Blackberry then found the HTC. Are there any other suggestions and if not between the two (Blackberry/HTC) which phone would be the best choice?

Thanks!

Which phones does Alltel offer and support? I can't get to their website to look since we do not have Alltel where I live. AFAIK, you will need to have something they have. Plus they are CDMA and a GSM device won't work.

Keep in mind that to get full benefit from the BB, including push email, you will need a BB data plan. EVDO Rev A will be the fastest, but speed is determined by several factors, such as the device you use, the connection itself, distance to the tower and tower congestion.

Alltel smart phones available in my area:

HTC PPC 6800
HTC Touch

Blackberry 88330 World
Curve 88330
8703e
Pearl 8130
MotoQ

Palm Treo 700wx
755P

In addition to reliable cell usage, affordable and fast internet with a easily readable screen, PAM, is my preference, calendar, the other capabilities would be icing.

Thanks...

If you want a highly reliable email platform I'd recommend the BlackBerry 8830 or Curve.

Thank you,

I just found out that I will not need to connect to the servers for email.

So I guess what I am now looking for is the best phone for high speed internet
PAM/EVDO, with an easily readable screen. The employer is trying to scale back on expenses for Smartphones. (now they tell me)

Are there any phones that have great internet access that are not Smartphones? (or should I start a new discussion?)

Thanks!
