W580i Subsidy Code and Firmware Upgrade

Just a quick question: If I unlocked my W580i using an unlock code, would it be possible to update the phone firmware using a generic (e.g. a European firmware) Sony Ericsson firmware?

yes you can flash any compatible firmware and it should not relock. Well you have the code anyway so can re-enter if you happen to put on some branded custpack.

Use a server like D-client so you can upgrade then unlock this should be ok for you.
