Hello,
I have a Sharp GX17, I installed the Handset Manager from Sharp (GX17_HM_e_b6.EXE). I conect the phone to the computer by bluetooth, but the handset manager will not connect to the phone, no matter how much I try.
It says "trying to connect to the handset" and thats all
I found this program: CleverCell, that works fine, but cant download images from the phone. I can only sync the phonebook and messages with it.
Have any of you guys found a good phone manager that works with GX17 or found a way for the Sharp handset manager to work?
I just tried another program: "MobTime Cell Phone Manager 2007 6.3.1". This program also allows me to see the phonebook and messages from the phone. But when i try to download images, it says:
"Fail to read folder information
Operation is refused"
thanks

Have you tried connecting using USB instead?

lol NO!
I wont spend another 50 bucks for this crap - this is how much it costs the USB cable where I live. Either i find a solution or I go buy a real phone (Nokia, etc)
thanks

I'd say the GX17 suffers from the same problem the 903 does with Bluetooth connections.
Try initiating a dial-up networking connection to the phone just from the regular Bluetooth control panel, whether that's through Windows' native one or through IVT Bluesoleil or whatever you use. Don't actually proceed with the connection, just open the dialup prompt and leave it open. This should force a Bluetooth connection open to the phone. Make sure the COM serial port that's opened through the DUN prompt is the same as that specified in the MobileAction Handset Manager's settings. Then, run the handset manager and hopefully, it should connect to the phone and work.
Having said this, you'll probably find that it's still quite unreliable. Sometimes you'll shut the handset manager and then reopen it and it won't connect at all, forcing you to reboot your PC. Personally, I avoid the handset manager and just send/receive objects (such as pics/music) directly using the Bluetooth software of the computer. For me it works reliably every time.

I tried MobileAction Handset Manager, Bluetooth Data Suite [MA-730] for Sharp GX17 with the MA-730 USB Bluetooth Device Driver & Modem Driver.
the Bluetooth Manager included is not working, it says i don have the MA-730 device plugged. And when I start the Sharp GX17 MA730 - Handset Manager V9.2 - it says I have to connect with Data Cable (USB) which is weird.
Also I tried the Dial-Up thing but no success
I also tried IVT BlueSoleil. It discovers the phone, but I only have 3 services available:
Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking Service
Bluetooth Serial Port Service
Bluetooth Object Push Service
the Bluetooth File Transfer Service and Bluetooth Information Synchronisation Service are not available
Can you detail how you transfer the files with the BLuetooth Manager? I would very much like to know how to do it.
thanks

I'm only familiar with BlueSoleil, but using that if you right click the icon for Bluetooth Object Push you'll get a few options. Select Send Objects and in the file prompt that pops up, change the file filter so it's showing all files. You can then send whatever you like to the phone.

Thanks, finnaly something works on my Sharp GX17 !
I succeded to upload files on the phone
Now how about downloading files from the phone? I would really like to be able to download the pictures I take with the phone

Found it, I have to select "Send" in the picture menu of the phone. And cant send all pictures, i have to send them one by one. All the mobile managers / handset managers refuse to transfer the images, even if they connect to the phone, they only transfer messages and agenda.
Oh well... still better than nothing. Finally I can download into computer the pictures I make.
Thanks a lot

I managed to use correctly the Sharp Handset Manager (HM) following those steps:
1. Make sure that your PC and the GX17 see each other over bluetooth. Search for active devices and possibly pair again PC and GX17
2. List the GX17 services
3. Activate the GX17 serial port service. Look under Serial Port service properties and note the COM port it's using.
4. Launch the HM. Under the second menu/interface settings, select the same COM port as step #3.
Now the PC and the GX17 should be connected, and the HM should ask you to download your contacts form GX17 to PC.
Hope this helps! Even more, I hope you could help me too.
I'm at loss trying to trasfer files to the GX17, especially jar files. I read on this thread someone've been able to transfer files using BlueSoleil. I tried it, using the Bluetooth Object Push as AL9999 suggested, with different file types, but I always get an "Access denied" error. The only file I can tranfer successfully are the cards.
It should be noted that my GX17 is Vodafone branded.
Could somebody help me?
Thanks,
Marco

Well, my first advice for transfering files between phone and computer is:
Get a real telephone man! Sharp GX17 is such a CRAP!
I just recently changed it with a Nokia 3500 Classicm, it was 120 Euros but it worths every single god dam penny. The interface is so smooth and perfect, the handset manager is the same for all Nokia phones (Nokia PC Suite), the USB conector is standard mini-B conector so now you can conect your phone to the computer by a standard 3-4 Euro USB cable. It has a 2 megapixel camera which makes veeery nice photos for a phone. When you conect it by USB you can choose "Data storage" so you can see the the phone just like a regular pen drive. Now i dont use Bluetooth anymore, I just bought a standard USB cable for my computer at home and at work I use the cable it came with a Memory Card reader that I just bought. USB just pwns Bluetooth tbh.
Also you can buy Nokia 3110 Classic with 110 Euros but it has 1.2 Megapixel so i think 10 Euros really worth for 2 megapixel instead of 1.2
Anyways, I remember I was able to send files to GX17 via Bluetooth using "IVT BlueSoleil" which is a very nice program. Cant remember all the details but I used Push Object. Only that you can send a single file once. And by the way, I could send photos from the phone to the computer using the same program, by using the phone interface, which is: you look at a photo, select "Options" -> "Send" -> "Via Bluetooth" -> "Choose device" -> My computer. I didnt needed the handset manager at all (and I could never make it work also, haha). But the funny thing is that you have to send photos 1 by 1, which i find "a little bit annoying"
and yes, mine was Vodafone branded too

Wolfie7,
thanks for your answer. I'm not disappointed by my GX17, actually. I'd just like to be able to put some games on it without paying Vodafone Live! for them
I tried IVT Blue Soleil, but each time I try "Push Object" on it, I get a "Access denied" error. Did you managed to transfer also jar files or only pictures? Using the HM (and also a nice phone manager called "MobTime Cell Phone Manager") I'm able to tranfers sounds, pictures and videos, but I'm at loss trying to transfer java files. I'd like to be able to understand definitely if it is impossible by phone design.
Ciao
Marco

Use camagic software..but you need to get a license or getting a key for it..
You wont get games passing them through bt...
You must download it from pages like jarworld.
