she wants to use her phone with att or tmobile. can she set it up/unlock this phone? if it just needs a pss-sim or hypersim or whatever, can you provide a link to a reputable reseller? i tried buying a hypersim before, and it was a chinese knock off that didn't work…

you sure it didnt work? if the phone has not been master resetted and has data on it, it wont work unless you reset the phone.

only phone and sms will work, unless you put the softbank sim with the hypersim and see what happens with repro then switch sims, not sure if that will work

I believe that the reprovisioning flag is locked to the SIM's Ki so if you do a repro and switch SIMs it won't work. This is just a thought based on how the Chinese "media-unlock" SIM-hack works, though. (try to get one of these; said exchange student might not appreciate being limited to calling and texting; then again, I don't know how widely available they are yet).

yangj08 is right - if you switch SIM cards the reprovisioning will be cancelled and the phone will ask for it again.

well she's not interested in MMS or internet. she only does SMS and voice. will it be fine?

it'll work right? i'm careful cause it's so cheap compared to the hypersim.

her voicemail will work too, right?

it should work, i know someone using a 920sh with the xsim

voice mail should work, but if its a us number probably need to manually have the number for it and put it in phone book, as some sharps you cant change it, but it still works for notifications just it calls the default japanese number instead
