Behold, the wonders of the forum search. =/

(Although I don't blame you if you couldn't find it by searching cause 99% of the time it's useless.)

Dude....I downloaded the prc's for the Java thing. Uploaded to my PDA via sync. And it's saying, "Please ensure that IBM's WebSphere Micro Enviroment Java VM is installed". What do I do? Or where did I go wrong? Or is this program only for web use? Thanks in advance guys.

Make sure you have J9JavaVMMidp20.prc, JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc, and j9pref.prc installed. (They're in the JVM/ARM4T/ folder.) If necessary, uninstall anything that says "Java", "J9", and "IBM" via delete on the device and reinstall those three files.

Do I copy this in the main folder of the phone? Or can it be runned in the card? Also what exactly does this do when I put it in? Thanks a million.

I install to the main memory. Never tried it on the card. Those three files will install a working JVM on your phone, letting you run Opera Mini, Gmail, etc.

I did exactly what you did when you installed on your Treo. Now this is what I get when I try to open http://www.opera.com Socket closed peer (0x1214)
Any ideas? The program did download correctly. I use Verizon for the time being by the way. Under AMS install window I put that address on there. Also when I put http://www.gmail.com I get this: AMS Error: The application descriptor was missing the required MIDlet- Name field. Maybe that will also help too. Thanks.

Also found this on the Gmail help site:

What are the Gmail application requirements?
To use the Gmail application, you'll need:
A J2ME (Java) MIDP2 device configured for data access.
A mobile data plan
The Verisign Class 3 public certificate with serial number 70:BA:E4:1D:109:29:34:B6:38:CA:7B:03:CC:BA:BF on your device.
Note: The Gmail app doesn't work with BREW-enabled devices. Some mobile service providers may restrict data usage by applications. We recommend contacting your mobile provider to confirm the details of your data plan. Not all devices allow you to check for the Verisign certificate.

You don't need to actually touch the JVM downloader for those apps. Go to mini.opera.com in Blazer to get Opera Mini, and gmail.com/app in Blazer to get Gmail. They'll install like normally downloaded apps. Google Maps also works the same way.

In fact, I've never used the JVM downloader. Just downloaded the .jar or .jad file from Blazer, hit "save and open", then ran the JVM to finish the install if required.

And you should be able to ignore the bit about the Verisign cert, I never had issues with it and I've done nothing to install a cert on my 650. Granted, I have an unbranded GSM 650, so your mileage may vary.

So with the JVM on my PDA. What cool things can I do with it? I have the Gmail & Google Maps on there.

Not quite sure what you mean by cool stuff, it just allows you to use normal J2ME apps like you would with other phones. I use it for Opera Mini, Gmail, and Google Maps and that's it. Places like getjar.com have more apps that are compatible with the JVM.

So having the J2ME in the internal of the Treo and the Opera, Gmail & Google Maps also in internal memory let's you see them better? Because even without this. Blazer shows them also. You said it in your prior post. That is why I was asking about what other programs I could use it on. I'm looking now. It's pretty neat. So do I just download them into my internal memory to use them with the J2ME?
