I've tried in the past but not possible for me. Anyone with luck?? How?

What are you asking exactly?

Are you trying to upload custom ringtones to the iphone via SSH?

I forgot the name of it but there is a patch for 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 to make it work with iBriker and that made it work for me in WinSCP.

i think tito means ZiPhone iBrickr Fix or something like that maybe?

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Yea that. That is if you used ziPhone.

If you used iLiberty then you don't need it.

When I was at 1.1.1, I create my own ringtone. Use itune to convert it to m4a file ( i think), than use winscp to upload to iphone dir. It shows up under sounds. For some reason I tried same method with 1.1.4, it doesn't show up. I have to use itunes to upload the ringtone. This works but there is one application I am using that doesn't work well using the itune method. The ringtones are store in a different dir labeled custom ringtones.

I got it to work.

Does anyone know where ringtone marimba located at in the dir?

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

If you find the ringtone folder then they should all be in there.

nope that one is not there. If you look at the ringtone tab in iphone, marimba is the first selection follow by Alarm. I am guessing it is located in another folder.

Let me check. . .You are right, I think its just to protect the trade mark apple ringtone. Where is the folder that iTunes uses for ring tones?

on the phone or the computer?

That damn marimba is nowhere to be found. You could just use iringer to upload ringtones. It's far easier than anything other method out there. It adds them to your ringtone section in itunes so they sync like everything else.

jasper:
That was how I was doing it but I didn't like it because I use swap library from installer. So each time i swap my music library, the ringtones in my original music library dissapears and the marimba is set as default.

I believe that if I find this marimba ringtone, I can change it to my own ringtone instead.

Just drag and drop the ringtones in the ringtone folder. If you find this holygrail of a ringtone folder then it would be cool, and you can add the direction to the folder in the wiki.

Excellent article on using WinSCP to create and download your custom ringontes here:

Make sure you change the file extensions to .m4r before copying them to the ringtones folder.
