I got through the 2nd interview for a FT Sales Rep job and she pushed me through for hire.

She said I would have to wait until HR called with their pay offer and I'm supposed to also get an email.

It's been a week and still nothing.

I called the manager and she basically has no idea why it's taking so long, she even asked if I have applied anywhere else. I said no, I don't have ANYTHING on my record that would keep me from getting this job. I asked for the # to human resources and she said she didn't have it.

So, two questions:

What is the number to AT&T HR?

and

Is it supposed to take this long?!

there is no number to HR. it's likely in the hand of the recruiter/staffing manager. i have a good relationship with my recruiter and can call and ask the status but i deal only with internal candidates and am not in sales.

With internal, how long does it usually take?

for pay? generally it's a just a matter of looking at thier current rate and off of that we determine the offer. so very little time.

i dont know all the dynamics of hiring externally and the time it takes.

basically our HR dept drops the ball on new hires far too often. we had a girl that we were going to make an offer to and HR didn't contact her for over 2 weeks and by that time she had accepted another job....sadly this is the norm with this company
