Flash wallpaper on Softbank question.

Hello all- I have been offline for a while but firstly let me say that it's nice to see a Japanese forum now which may well may it a bit easier to search for information. 
Anyway, I have been grabbing as many flash wallpapers as I can find online and have built up a nice collection (more on that in another thread 
) , my Softbank 911T is 480 X 800 and when I find flash WP's in that same resolution they only fill up top to bottom on my screen with a sliver of unused space on each side BUT when I use flash WP's at 240 X 400 they fill up the entire screen rather nicely ???
I can not really complain since the majority of nice WP's out there seem to be in 240 X 400 or 432 but am just curious as to why smaller WP's fill up the screen and the larger/correct size WP's do not ?
