How to delete locked preloaded photos from Curve?

I have a Curve 8310 and it has a bunch of pre-loaded photos that I'd like to delete, but they are somehow locked - a little padlock appears in the top right corner of the image.

I've tried and tried to no avail.....how do I delete these images??
