hi!
I read on my manual and on internet that my SH905i can use TV guide to use mobile phone like a TV irda remote control....but when i open TV GUIDE there are all inscriptions that i can't understand....so i don't know how i can do....
please can you help me?
thanks, bye!

That only works in Japan. Keep in mind if you read something in the manual and you try it and it doesn't work, you can be 99% sure that it's a Japan only feature.

oh i see....
uff ...when do Japan export this in the Worldwide?
thanks , bye!

don't say never, it's actually possible to make it to work just like a tv remote (irDa is not network based), i will give it a go next time when i go to my aunt's house, she got a aquos tv so i'll know if it work with a sharp tv or not. (plus she's japanese and i can just ask her what all those #$@#$@#$ in the menu mean)

yeah, i think you are right, at least you will need a FOMA sim card for it to work, since the apps isn't even activated yet (just open that folder and pop up a window that told me to activate the service), then it might work afterward.

a cancelled sim might work? I think thats how jung got his to work b/c my app worked on my nec n900ig, but i had no clue how to use it b/c it was in japanese

Ok... the service that the 905i phones have (the one pairing IR remote control with a network-based TV guide) is completely network based.

But if you just want to use your phone as a remote control to operate your TV, all you need is a Java app that will control the IR on your phone and work it the same way a TV remote does. All you need to do is find one...

can we even install apps without going through i-mode? i know some apps that make the phone act as a tv remote, but all of them is for s60 phone.

No, all Japanese phones only install apps OTA, whether it be through i-mode or WAP depending on the carrier the phone is from.

OTA? What's OTA?

O nice.. that means there's hope for us (P905i users). Now all we have to do is find the app

OTA = Over the Air, which mean that the phone need internet access (i-mode) to install apps.
