V3 Razr camera freezes phone

I got given my Dad's hand-me-down V3 Razr.

I put a monster pack on there and upgraded to the latest firmware, but I'm still having issues with the camera/video.

Whenever I push either button to turn the camera/video camera on, the screen goes black and it just says Photo Viewfinder at the bottom with the memory used. I can't get out of the screen and have to take off my battery and put it back on again before I can turn it on.

Anyone know a fix for this?

One link I found via google suggest I take apart the top-half of the phone, unseat the connectors, blow out the dust, and re-seat the connectors. I'm trying to avoid having to take the thing apart, so does anyone else have any other ideas?

It does sound as though there is something on the camera's felc cable. You will have to take the upper portion apart which is only held by four screws. http://www.themotoguide.com/razrdisassembly.php
