I have a friend that has a 8gig iphone that he bought a while back. He lost (thought he lost) his phone a couple months back and recently found it at a friends house. He called and made an insurance claim on the phone and bought a new one already, so he has this extra iphone hanging out.

I offered to buy it from him for cheap but I wanted to ask this first...

I was wondering if it would be possible to unlock/jailbrake/ect his insurance claimed iphone and use it for t-mobile (my service provider)?

Thanks

Yes you can use it on T-mobile or any GSM carrier. Just Unlock it...

Return it to his insurance company - it's theirs now.

Yea that's what he pays the monthly fee for ... **** happens and if its a good thing u mine as well enjoy it

Don't return it, as the person who made the claim is going to pay for it anyway through higher insurance rates.

People who reverse their car into the shopping mall light post, then tell the insurance that they want to get free repairs, pay for it in the end as the insurance company just raises the cost next time... That claimed iPhone will be paid for over time...

I remember the good old days when the moral and ethical people would chime in and outnumber the "stick it to the big ins company" peeps. Sigh...

Insurance companies are scum.

Here in montreal canada, we have a thing called "No fault" insurance, meaning if the guy behind the wheel has had a few, and is drinking while driving and he hit your parked car in your driveway, the insurance company will still increase your insurance rate!

Makes me want to skip getting an iPhone, invest in one of those night vision Solid state cameras and install it in my car, and if I have an accident, I'll challenge the entire insurance industry, (with some media backing $$$)

OP: use and abuse that iPhone!
