Phone for my 13 Yr Old Daughter

Hi,

I am former ATT (blue) customer, and intend to keep my plan for a while longer.

I am thinking of getting a phone for my daughter, and adding her to my plan.

Is this possible to do this on my current plan or I will have to switch over?

If i can't, would it be possible to get a separate second line, with a basic plan, just for her, without changing my plan?

Assuming I can, what phone + plans would you suggest -- it should be mainly for emergenies, and not much more...

thanks very much, MN

i don't think you can get any new additions to old blue ATT plans. You'll have to ugprade to the new AT&T. The fact that most of the phones now wont work with the other AT&T is the other half of the problem. Some of them are able to take the old SIMs but that's maybe a few.

a separate plan just for her wont really be cost effective (lowest one is $40 a month +tax/fees) if its just used for emergencies. i would say go with prepaid pay as you go. it could also help her develop some financial responsibility since it tells you how much the call you just made cost and how much your remaining balance is.

For the phone part, I say get her something simple such as the Samsung A737. Their cheap and come with a variety of colors. Camera and Music, what more could she ask for?
