Vacation Time Prohibition?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: davpel

According to a new post at BGR, AT&T reps just got an internal email stating that they would be unable to take vacation time from 4/15-5/15 "due to projected increased traffic and an exciting new promotion/product launch." BGR notes that the last (only?) time such a prohibition has been put in place was for the launch of the iPhone and, thus, speculates that perhaps AT&T and Apple have an early surprise re: the new 3G iPhone.

Can any AT&T insiders confirm the vacation prohibition?

Edit: BGR has updated the post and corrected the prohibition dates to 6/15 – 7/12. This seems a lot more reasonable and would certainly correspond to the latest iPhone rumors. Interesting that the internal memo specifically refers to last year's iPhone launch in explaining this summer's vacation policy.

Well, the only thing i've figured out from this is that BGR informants are not in the retail channel so that should help R.L.S. figure out who the mole is at corporate and fire their *** before the launch.

Oh settle down. Do you honestly care that this info went public? All it really is about is that people can not request off anymore days in a certain time frame. No confidential info was released such as iPhone 2 is launching June blah blah so we need everyone to be working therefore no vacations cuz were going to be super busy.

The email that BGR is word for word...although they left out that it was from Brian Ducharme

Yeah, it's for real. Got an email forwarded down the food chain with my VP/GM's name on it. There is a vacation blackout. Doesn't say why but we all know why.

Because it's the busy time? It slows from after Christmas until May/June until about Oct then lows until Black Friday until Christmas

God forbid that anyone wants to take a vacation during the summer vacation season... I don't have kids but I would be pissed if I did and I couldn't take them on vacation over the summer

Does it matter who the mole is.. I am sure AT&T is salivating at the idea of this precious information getting out, all they can hope is that there stores can learn from the initial I phone launch and it is finally embraced by the buying public as the second coming of christ as they still believe it is... how pathetic indeed.

No one knows where BG works, or who he works for... And he has people sending in tips all the time, right from his website. Anyone could have sent that in. Out of thousands of employees who got that message, they won't be able to find the one that tipped BG off.

I already had a vacation planned, and am keeping it. Last year we were sold out in 2 days and didn't receive another shipment until 5 days later. I couldn't care any less about this "busy sales period". It'd be worth it to get away from the usual launch BS with high profile devices.

all we can do, is hope that they require US to activate it, getting rid of all the unlockers and ebayers. "sorry sir, we require this device to be activated in-store with a 2 year contract, you cannot purchase it without that."

like to see those f*ckwad hackers get around that.

anyone else get the memo that we're only allowed to take credit or debit cards for iPhone purchases? Any we have to use the iPhone tracker to see if they've purchased one before...

The only memo I saw today which was "required reading" was for only selling 1 iPhone now, instead of the max of 3. What tracker are you referring to? Is it a quick link in OPUS? Or some other system?

It was sent out today, I don't remember who, but it was right around 3pm that it hit the inbox. It was after the 1 max email.
