Problems with TCPMP video player-blank screen

I am using TCPMP on my Dash and love it. Only issue is sometimes I don't need to see the video (like news shows) and want to blank it. I setup up a hotkey to do that, but it doesn't work. I tried using several different hotkeys, but no luck. Anyone else have this problem and know a solution?

the hotkey screen on/off only works for me if I am in window mode. for example, if I am in full screen, push the hotkey, the screen will only turn off when I click into window mode. which was sort of confusing when I first set it up.

are you playing the video in full-screen mode?

Whether I play in full screen mode or windowed mode, the screen off hotkey doesn't work. It seems like the screen will turn off sometimes if I pause the video after pressing the hotkey. I have also had it flicker like crazy and have to kill the app.
