Clear my phone data

Hey everyone,

Just got a refurb Tilt to use prior the the 3G iPhone to hit. Once the new iPhone is out, I want to get rid of the tilt. How do I clear/reset the Tilt so that the new owner does not have any of my info and a clean phone to start with?

I understand that when registering an iPhone you put in your current phone number and the old phone (Tilt) is left ready and waiting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, links to a walk-thru, steps to take, etc.

From that wonderful little book called a User Guide that comes with every device. The Hard Reset is what you will need, I just put the Soft one so you know how to do it too.

12.4 Resetting Your Device
Soft reset
Occasionally, you may need to reset your device. A soft (or normal) reset
of your device clears all active program memory and shuts down all
active programs. This can be useful when your device is running slower
than normal, or a program is not performing properly. A soft reset is
also necessary after the installation of some programs. If a soft reset is
performed when programs are running, unsaved work will be lost.
To perform a soft reset
Use the stylus to press the RESET button found at the bottom of your
device. Your device restarts and displays the Today screen.

Hard reset
You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard
reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a system
problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings - the
way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you
installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will
be lost. Only Windows Mobile® software and other pre-installed programs
will remain.
To perform a hard reset using device keys
1. Press and hold the left SOFT KEY and the right SOFT KEY, and at the
same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of
your device.
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two SOFT KEYs until you
see the following message on the screen:
This operation will delete
all your personal data,
and reset all settings to
the manufacturer default
settings. Press SEND to
restore manufacturer
defaults, or press any
other button to cancel.
3. Release the two SOFT KEYs, and then press the button on your
device.
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any
additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before
a hard reset is performed.

To perform a hard reset using Clear Storage
1. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.
2. Type “1234” in the box and tap YES.

Using the Clear Storage program is the easiest way to "reformat" your Tilt and leave it as it was when it was first unboxed (softwarewise). The Hard Reset method does the same thing and comes handy when your system is so corrupted that you can't boot normally to access the Clear Storage program.
