Reassign PTT button

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've installed the PTTfix Cab> Iwas able to go to the Settings menu and reassign the 5 button for Voice Dial. However, when I press the button, nothing happens.
This refers to 8925 (Tilt)

PTTFix doesn't work for the Tilt. It is only for the 8525. See the http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ for instructions on what to do with the Kaiser/TyTN II/etc. It requires a registry edit and deleting some files.

Here are the steps to disable PTT and assign more useful actions to the PTT button. No file deletion is necessary.

===== DISABLE PTT BUTTON ON TILT

1. Delete registry key HKLM\Services\PTT (the entire PTT key with anything inside of it)
2. Open key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
3. Create a new key named 40C6. (That's a zero, not an O.)
4. Create a string value on the 40C6 key named Name and assign the data Button 6.
5. Still at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys, create another key named 40C7. (That's a zero, not an O.)
6. Create a string value on the 40C7 key named Name and assign the data Button 6 (Hold).
7. Exit registry editor.
8. Press Power button to turn off the screen and wait five to ten seconds. This step is important so the changes in cache are actually written to storage memory.
9. Do a soft reset to restart the device.
10. Go to Start - Settings - Buttons and assign the newly created buttons to your favorite programs.

Thanks so much, but I'm unable to get into the registry (or regedit)!

Regedit is not included in Windows Mobile. You need a third-party program. I use PHM Registry Editor (freeware) but there are others out there, free and shareware.
