Katana apps on DLX?

I just traded back my Centro from Sprint and got a Katana DLX instead. I wanted to get some things from getjar.com but they don't have an area for this phone. I figured the 6600 builds, which the website does support, would work fine but if the application needed to make a data call it may not be done at EvDO speed. Is that right?
