Hello. I recently recived a k850 from Vodafone, and as usual, the firmware BLOWS. Camera works worse than my unbranded k800i, and overall phone performance is sluggish. So i decided to flash with unbranded firmware.

The problem is i scanned this forum and found no relevant thread for n00bs. Except for Davinci and TotalGSM witch charges 10 euros for reflashing.

It's quite cheap, but payng the 10 euros is a lot of hassle for me, since i dont have a credit card, and even if i did, i don't trust online banking.

I starded this thread in the hope that somebody knows how to flash this phone for free. I've flashed motos (v3x, v3, v360 and v635), and some SEs (K750i, K800i) but could not find firmware for the k850.

Can anybody post links to free firmware and flashing tools? And a guide if the procedure differs from k750i/k800i reflashing.

As of right now none of the free flashing tools (XS++ SeTool) can flash the K850i. It's a new chip with new security. Sorry man but if you want to debrand one of those is your only option. I have seen some videos of people with modded K850i's so it shouldn't be too long before they're available.

if its oem phone, and u'd want the latest f/w i guess u could use SE updater?

the branded k850 does not have the "firmware update" option. The vodafone firmware is very basic. It doesn't even have the file manager icon in the menu. The only way to access it is by adding a shortcut.

top sony has firmware but you have to be a member for so long and have so many posts or pay to download I believe.

But then I didn't think there was a free program you could use to flash it...

can we use the davinci software to flash the phone with ower own firmware? I'm not sure but i think it worked this way for the k750 - but it didn't finalize... you had to have some stuff on the memory stick to use the phone.

the reason I wanted to reflash my phone is because the camera drivers suck. The shutter and the flash are out of sync, and the pictures come out black. Does anybody have a fix for this?

Even if you can download the firmware (which i have), you can't flash it yourself for free...

I can guarantee you 100% that as of this minute, there is no free way of doing it.
