Work internet filter affects browsing on phone when connected via ActiveSync

I have recently noticed that when my MotoQ9c is connected to ActiveSync at work, my employer's internet content filter is applied to my use of IE on my phone. This doesn't make sense to me--my phone isn't internet sharing with the work network. Has anyone else noticed this? Can you explain it?

Wirelessly posted (TemchikQ9m: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.7) 320x240; VZW; Motorola-Q9m; Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard)

When you phone is connected to ActiveSync it is using your computer internet connection... To prevent this you need to disable network access on activesync and enable wireless data in the partnership.

i can't look up the specifics right now, I am sure it won't be too hard to find.

Makes sense. Thanks!

I found it: it's in Connection Settings under the ActiveSync File menu.

There's a "This computer is connected to" setting, which has 3 choices: Automatic, The Internet, Work Network.

Set this to Automatic and The Internet, and an IP check on my phone returned an IP associated with my work domain. Set it to Work Network (and made sure the 'allow wireless connection when device is connected...' option was enabled) and the IP check returned an IP associated with my carrier.

Thanks again.
