Hi all,

I recently picked up a Blackberry Pearl on T-mobile. Now I bought it used off ebay and when i got it there are many odd applications on here that i don't really want or need. How would I go about deleting them? Also AIM seems to be deleted. Is there any way to get that back?

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (HTC Wizard: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) PPC; 240x320; HTC_P3600i/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

What you can do is a hard reset. I believe it is located under Options>Advanced Options, but I don't currently have a BlackBerry available to check exactly what it's called and where it's located.

Would this erase all my info?

Unfortunately yes, but I think you may be able to do a backup of contacts and calendars via BB Desktop Manager. I've only worked with BB's hooked up to a BES, so I'm not to knowledgeable on how it works with BIS or w/o a data plan.

Alright thanks for your help! I actually have this on a Sidekick data plan, I don't know if thats bad or not.

You'll probaly want to switch that if you want access to email and the web, AFAIK RIM requires a specific data plan due to the way their service works.

Go to Applications/Options/Security Options. Then hit the blackberry key (left of the trackball) then select Wipe Handheld.

That will restore it to factory settings. But it will delete all of your data including contacts. So you'll want to back those up with the BB Desktop Manager before you perform the wipe.

And you'll definately want to get a BB data plan.

Will that delete pictures also?

Okay so I should change that sidekick plan to a blackberry plan? Can I do that at any time or should I change at the end of the month?

It will delete everything you have on there, what you can do first is backup all the pictures to an SD card or just email them to yourself. While I'm not highly familiar with T-Mobile, if they're anything like AT&T you'll be able to switch to the BB plan at anytime you'd like.

Okay, I think I got it!

Thanks for all your help!

Hmm, I did the hard reset and AIM is still deleted.

:/

AIM will be deleted. You need to reinstall it. Which I sdon't think you can do without a data plan since you need to download it OTA (Over the Air) from RIM In other words you can only download it while on your Blackberry

Oh okay. Dang I just reset my phone for nothing!

Does the blackberry unlimited plan include unlimited text messaging/AIM?

Posted by: Urthwhyte

As far as I know, you will have to get a text messaging package separately.
