Caller ID display problem (HTC Touch)

Hey guys,
when I get an incoming call, no contact name or number shows up. I only get a pop up window that says "incoming call". It is only after I answer the call it displays the phone number and name. I suscribe to caller id and the incoming calls are from my contact list. I'm a new Touch user and was hoping I could get some help here to fix this problem. Thx.

I don't have that problem. If they are in my contacts, it will show their info (and pic, if I assigned one). Otherwise, it usually shows their number, unless it is private.

I get a big pop up window at the bottom half of my screen and it only says "incoming call". After I answer it, it goes to the keypad screen and it displays the number in the top left corner.
If it's any help, I'm with Rogers. I have caller ID. running windows mobile 6. The phone is brand new from the store.

I had that problem on my TyTN after I loaded some software on it. Have you loaded any programs recently or has it always been like that out of the box?

i had that problem, but im using a sprint touch, and i was using phone dialers, but if yours is like this out of the box, then idkk. but if you have any UI tweaks that could be the problem.

is your touch from rogers with the rogers software or unbranded?
if it is unbranded you need to flash it back to the rogers one for it to work. Rogers did something to their WM phones so they can have caller ID and stuff. Unbranded ones from HTC doesnt work with it for some reason.

mine is brand new out of the box from rogers. I didn't add/load any programs or software.

How do I know if its unbranded or w/ rogers software? I assume it's rogers software since its straight from the rogers store.

ok then you need to ask them why caller id isnt working for you...when someone calls it should show the name and #

Mine is the white Verizon garbage and it does the same thing....it's so damn annoying. Half of the time I can't even answer mine let alone know who's calling....I hope there's a fix.

wrong, mine is unbranded and unlocked, direct from factory, works perfect.

I think something else is causing the issue, seeing as how the op got theirs from rogers, they should call it in for replacement.

Should be a problem if the contact is saved to SIM CARD or to the phone itself.

mine are all on my sim card, and my phone is unlocked and unbranded.
The name display does work on the phone, if its not, then it needs to be fixed.

Rogers phone = call rogers for replacement. not sure if t mobiles works but I would assume so.

@ Danielhaim1: are you implying that you have to save the contacts on a piece of paper for name display to work? err

you guys do know you need the area code saved with the number right? (for canada that is, not sure about the us)

i have the same problem at time.

i'll receive a call and it's exactly that way. with no name or picture.

then if i go to my recent calls it will display the number or name.

and sometime when a saved contact calls their number will display but no name or picture.

Again,

You need to save it to CONTACTS

not too sure about that, because mine works perfect, and they are all saved to the sim card...

but perhaps some of the branded one have flaws caused by the different software (however slight)

I am having this problem with my HTC Touch (XV6900 Verizon version) as well. The Caller ID pop up gets the top portion cut off so you can't see the name or the number. Has anyone reported this as a bug? There should be a fix for this!

I'm having the same exact problem as well. . . when someone calls, sometimes it just says "incoming call" but when you goto the log history, it will show the name and number of the person that called you. The Caller ID does work if you've subscribed to it. . . I can assure you it's not a network related issue. It's the stupid software issue on the HTC Touch. Quickest way to fix it is turn off your phone and turn it back on (reboot) the stupid Windows Mobile 6 and it'll revert back to normal again. Happens all the time to me if I don't reboot my phone at least once a week. BTW, I'm with Telus Mobility in Canada a CDMA carrier.

I had the same problem today. I have 2 touch..one is fine and the other was not showing the caller ID just today...I have 4 different contact softwares that I change them all the time. Than I removed one of them(cant remember which one) and use the default contact (WM)..I reload Finger Friendly Contact and everything back to normal...cant tell you why but thats how I fixed

I had a similar issue when i first took my HTC Touch out of the box. Caller ID did not show on incoming calls even though i have a subscription to caller ID (TELUS). I called support and they 'sent an update' - had me restart the phone. Then i watched it install some things and when it was done, my caller ID's showed!
