I converted my ringtones to MMF (or SMAF) using this thing called SUPER
but ..when i put it into my phone it says "cannot play file"

any idea what i could do?
i know we're not to discuss actual programs...
so can someone EMAIL Me one they use for converting?

or is there something i could be doing wrong that i could easily fix?
i just altered a song (shortened it) and converetd it from Mp3

does this phone take any other file formats for songs to use as ringtones..

thanks!

PS - my email is
Sacherz@hotmail.com

you can use the yamaha wave decoder program, its free and converts wav to mmf. so you need to convert your music into wav first.

for 705 you need ma-3 and under 300kb and 30 sec

Posted by: Sachi_Komo

but will 705 accept mmf as a format?
also, if i have a wav that turns into an mmf, doe sit HAVE to sound midi-like.
i mean can i take a song by..let's say randomly..a singer like...
i dunno some random singer thats a wav (i rip my music as waves) so could i use a REAL SONG to convert? or must it sound..polyphonic-ie/midi-like ?

it accepts mmf as a format, just has to be in the ma-3 30 sec/300kb requirement.

And it will sound like music, not like MIDI

question:

i used the yamaha converter....and the quality does deteriorate quite a bit

is there a way to keep the songs sounding great?
i mean as wavs they're amazing, but once they hit into mmf..it goes to like ..hell super duper fast

any way to keep quality up

The highest sample rate ma-3 takes is 16khz using mono, are you using that? Its when you go into the more expensive models they tend to use the higher quality sound

Posted by: Sachi_Komo

umm...ma-3..can you explain to me what that is?
because im using the yamaha one and the highest it goes via mmf = 8khz..
any idea how i can do this ma-3 method?

i think in the end of all of this and all of my problems, i will do a complete write up for this phone to help anyone else who is or will be struggling wtih it
i FINALLY figured it all out
and now my songs are kick *** and all is well

Posted by: aw614

lol glad you got it figured out, never thought of making the write up, would just answer people's pm's and questions on the 705p

I think you guys are gonna have to explain this to me....

I tried using the MA-3 method and choosing to go with the 16khz sample type, but the file is still over 2MB, way over the 300kb required.

What am I doing wrong?

Posted by: aw614

it has to be under 30 seconds

Posted by: bakakutani

Well, let me clarify first: the Yamaha wave sound decorater is the program you're talking about, right? I searched for a yamaha wave decoder and came up only with this.

When you convert, say an mp3 file into a wav file, you should switch the output so that the file will be converted into a 16khz 16bit mono file? When I use the yamaha program and choose the 30sec or under piece of music I want to use, the file is still 1-2mb in size....

So I'm still pretty confused about this....

Posted by: aw614

after you convert mp3 to wav you need to load the yamaha wave sound decoder then do any editing and save it as mmf, it shouldnt be that large

Posted by: bakakutani

Okay, finally!

I can get the file down to about 230kb (before I forgot to actually "trim" the piece before saving it, hence the file being saved as a full song instead of a 30-sec snippet). Unfortunately, as Sachi Komo mentioned, the song goes from great to craptacular as soon as it hits the phone memory.

What can I do to fix this?

Posted by: Sachi_Komo

bakakutani;
i figured out a semi good way..what im gonna do is....either msg you?
or email you?
if you want, email me at sacherz@hotmail.com
so ic an explain it without it suddenly going against the rules? (nots ure if i can discuss where and what i use? to do this so it sounds great) ?

Posted by: aw614

I think its ok to post it

Review the rules and make sure you're not going against it first, then post it. If it shouldn't be posted, I'll delete it.
