With 3 new berries leaked/announced in the last few weeks, I thought it would be fun to take a very non scientific poll on which one will be the most successful.

Posted by: gibbs

It took me a big step to like the pearl, but I eventually did. I still miss the wheel.

I don't like flimsy phones, and flips and touch are out for me.

Posted by: aarononfire

i might buy a curve 8330
the rest are gsm which has terrible reception here and the touch one probably wont make it to canada for a year

i've only had my pearl since christmas and i like enough to not at the moment be able to justify spending $500 on another phone

Posted by: fastcivic416

i'd be interested in the berry that would have the touch screen and slide out keyboard. of course it would have to be for cdma....

Blackberry Bold/9000

Posted by: bryanharig

The 9000/Bold with T-Mobile 3g! I might also consider the E71 with BB connect if it ever comes out with T-Mobile 3g, or the iPhone 2.0 if it blows my mind enough to make me forget 3g!

Posted by: tgeekb

Well, for now my Curve 8310 rocks. If they update the Curve to wifi or 3G then.....

Posted by: Petey07

BB 9000 whenever it comes out for tmobile.

Posted by: penpower

I think I will wait a little bit even after Bold comes out later this year. First, I am pretty sure we will see more new BB come out this year, so far only 1 out of 4 or 5 promised new BB (according the RIM). Second, price will drop significantly after first several months, that is from my past experiences with ATT. I got my 8820 for $149 couple months after it released.

You can get wifi on a curve, but I dont think you have have the GPS as well. The 8310 has GPS, the 8320 has wifi, I guess you have to choose which is more important. Of, you have have an 8820 and have both, sans the camera. I think the 9000 with all 3 is going to be a huge hit.

Posted by: davistld01

My 8310 is a great phone, and serves me very well...so I'm not going to jump at the 9000 Bold right away...but I'm sure I'll eventually get one.

Bold for T-Mo all the way!

Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm leaning more towards the E71 right now just because I wouldn't mind changing it up a little bit. I'll end up getting the 9000 at some point... .

BB 9000.... can't wait for it to drop!

Posted by: aagic

Anxiously waiting for the BlackBerry Bold. That is the next toy.

Posted by: danny.boi

I voted for the new Bold because it will likely be the newer model made available for those on GSM/EDGE/UMTS networks.

However, and a big HOWEVER, I wouldn't say no to a free 9500 or a much updated 3G/UMTS/UMA version of the Pearl.

Thunder depending on the size of the device and how the keyboard works.

Bought THE DAY it hits my local corporate-owned T▪ ▪ ▪Mobile▪ store (as long as the 3G network is up and running in the Washington DC/Baltimore market by then.) 'Nuff said.

Posted by: tDAWG

There will be a touchscreen gsm BB too. You should have put that

Not bloody likely. According to Boy Genius Report, the touchscreen "id10tPhone killer" BlackBerry is a WORLDWIDE LIFETIME EXCLUSIVE to Verizon Wireless Stateside, and Vodafone in Europe. So, IF Vodafone uses a GSM network, then yeah, I suppose there WILL be a GSM version released... but then you'll have to pay through the nose to import an unlocked one from Europe. And if you happen to be a T▪ ▪ ▪Mobile▪ user (and I see that you are!), you can forget about ever using that unlocked unit on 3G, since T-Mo uses a non-standard frequency range for their 3G network. But have fun using the touchscreen BB "Thunder" at the EDGE speeds you currently enjoy!

You really think, that there will be one touch screen BB forever? Everyone knows there WILL be GSM touchscreen. This phone might be just a touch screen cdma and BB makes touchscreen/qwerty phone gsm. Model numbers can also separate them eg this phone 9500 hypothetically then 9600 could the gsm bb touchscreen.

Quote:
Verizon will have a sales quota for the device and if they don’t meet those numbers, we’ve heard the exclusivity will then dissolve and it’s over

You also forgot that part.

This part makes me wonder though?

Quote:
We’ve heard the unit will be a hybrid device with CDMA EV-DO Rev. C

Rev C?? They barely have Rev A launch!!!! lol

Well, if they make one with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard as a different model, then yeah, they can release that as a different device. That's what I thought they were going to do with the touchscreen BB, given some of the patents that were filed by RIM within the last year regarding keyboard designs. We shall see what gets released in the coming months.

But in the meantime, it's 3G 9000 "Bold" for this CrackBerry addict! I gots to have my QWERTY keyboard! I've tried the touchscreen only id10tPhone in an AT&T store, and NO WAY! You couldn't PAY me enough to get me to use one, without first bankrupting yourself AND your employer!

You're right, I DID forget to mention that part. But then again, I find it very unlikely that Verizon will fail to meet that quota. I mean, come on, they're finally going to have a TRUE competitor for the id10tPhone, and it's made by the company that makes THE most reliable, most popular, and just all around BEST PDA phones/smart phones on the market? That's just a no-brainer! VZW and RIM have just given themselves A LICENSE TO PRINT MONEY!!!

I may LOATHE the touchscreen only design, but even I know they'll sell like hotcakes!

ditto on the E71, that will be my next S60 device, if it ever comes out.

Not according to our unscientific poll. I guess we will know by Christmas. I think the Thunder is going to be most appealing to those who already have VZW service and for whatever reason moving to ATT for the iPhone was not an option. To be honest, IF I wanted a phone for its music player capabilities, I would get an iPhone. But that is not what is important to me for a device.

Posted by: Samoa Joe

I'm actually thinking about moving up to the curve and iPhone 2.0 when that comes out. Does this count?

Posted by: Dogmann

Hi all,

Well i keep on being attracted to BB's but until now the lack of 3G/HSDPA and WiFi in one device has kept me away. The Bold ticks all those boxes and then some so looks like being my first BB device. Although the Touch screen BB looks good i am just not really a TS fan any longer and as it will be released later will just take a look once it is released and decide then.

Marc

Posted by: CarlGalgano

its not the lack of 3G data AND Wifi in one device, its been the lack of 3G data period. (at least on the GSM side)

Posted by: TotalDistinction

I *want* the Bold 9000 but can't immediately justify it after getting my Curve 8300 less than 6 months ago. I do wish I had held out a little longer for the 8310 with integrated GPS though.

Having a device with 3G, GPS, and Wi-Fi would be fantastic though.

My device may have an *unfortunate* accident when the 9000 arrives. :-)

The trouble with our poll, though, is that it's being done by HoFo members that either have a BlackBerry already, or are coming to this particular forum because they're thinking about buying a BlackBerry. And that's going to skew the results a bit. The customer base that the id10tPhone is marketed to is a different type of consumer, one that most likely will NOT come into this forum. I'm sure there are many people out there that want the id10tPhone, and have not bought it because they can't get it for Verizon Wireless, which for some people is the ONLY carrier they'll use. So, IF VZW markets this right, they'll have a BIG hit on their hands!

Now, of course, there's no guarantee they WILL market it right, but I'm sure they know they're losing at least some customers to the new at&t due to not having the id10tPhone, and are fully prepared to take on that device head on by bringing the "Thunder"!

I want a blackberry bold in a curve form factor.

Posted by: veks

8330 for sprint. by the time sprint gets one of the new phones mentioned it will be a year or two from release on another provider. if i had to pick the bold for sure

Posted by: Jayden0606

Bold baby!

Posted by: vigor21215

I am waiting for the thunder! I know it will be the best mix of multi media and bb goodness.. if verizon doesnt cripple it by making u only use media on vcast it, maybe through a slide out keyboard and lot of onboard memory and the Apple Killer lives!

Posted by: PhoneModo

Honestly, the curve is amazing as it is. If it had 3G in it, it'd be perfect. Well and video recording too. And the new OS. But I don't like the new form factor of the 9000. It's too big. I understand a size increase was necessary due to all the new features that were put in. However there could have been some trimming done I think. Maybe next time haha

There, thats an idea for Blackberry. The Curve 8390. GPS, WiFi, 3MP Camera, video, OS 4.6, a tad bigger battery and 2GB memory built in w.o a card slot. That'd be my dream blackberry.

Posted by: cl347bv

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

If I could make the blackberry I want, it would be a 7250 with stereo bluetooth, 8gb expandable memory, and a 2mp camera. I hate the new trackballs, with everything inside of me. I wish RIM never went down that road.

What can you do, right?

Count me in for the "dream BlackBerry" too!!
