Don't drop!

I've had the HTC touch for almost 3 months and love it (minus the fact I still can't find out how to put movies on it! if you can help pm me) and the phone is completely useless. I dropped the phone from about 2 feet and the screen busted! Luckily I have insurance but its been over a week and sprint still doesn't have my replacement. So just a warning people this phone is not RUGGED! Get insurance on it and try to take care of it. Anyone have a problem with the screen breaking yet?

As far as videos on the touch just use tcpmp which plays just about any file you would want. Some people say they have frame rate issues but none here.

I dropped mine a couple times, was worried at first but thing holds up pretty nicely, only thing that gets scratched is the chrome plastics around the edge ..

I think the rubber backing actually helps it from getting dinged up !!

I would suggest getting a case

Has anyone had to get a replacement phone before?!?! It has been 10 days and still no replacement yet

I have a 6800 and it really durable....also a lot thicker though. It took a nasty spill last night. I threw it from my Bathroom to my bed (about 10 feet) and it bounced off of my bed on to the hardwood floors. I totally did a Oooooo noooooossssss. Fortunately though it landed battery side down and the only problem is it catches just slightly when I try to close the slide out keyboard. Thank heavens.

Please check out this thread as it might help those who are not covered under warranty!
And here is the link to purchase an LCD screen for $60.

It should be obvious with most things that dropping isn't a good idea. It isn't rocket science.

Wirelessly posted (PPC; 240x320; HTC_P3450/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6))

this is why n00bs suck. they complain, bad-mouth anything they do not understand or operate poorly.

i play movies, podcasts, youtube... and i dropped my white non-rubberized touch several times and am happily posting from it now. get a razr

90% of the time its the users fault

just like saying "wm phone suck because they keep freezing" thats the users fault for not managing memory or applications hence, NOT A POWER USER

99% of the time after driving a car off a cliff, the car will have a mechanical failure of some sort.

i dont really see your point? why not treat a $400 phone like a $400 phone and NOT DROP IT.

my tytn was $450 at the time i purchased it (1.5 years ago) and ive never dropped it once because i know its expensive and subconsiously i use extra caution. also not to mention most of my important contacts and stuff is on there and i cant afford to lose that stuff in the middle of the day.

I am the king of dropping phones and pdas. I do not have a touch, but I can positively say that Nokia makes the most durable handsets out there. I have never been able to break one beyond repair as of yet.

I also have to say that I was very impressed with my iPhone yesterday when I sent it skidding across my driveway -- SCREEN DOWN -- and had no visible damage!

I was very worried.

As for replacement phones -- yeah the carriers are usually very slow to respond and ship out new equipment. I guess they figure their deal with you is done once you make the initial purchase.
