i know i posted a new thread in the hacks forum, but i just jailbroke my iphone and activated it using iliberty. Im using my old sim card. My iphone says i dont have any service... whats the problem?

skinticket, you have to do the unlocking, jailbreaking, and activation process. As an AT&T /Cingular customer, you would still have to unlock. Don't ask me why, but I had to unlock my phone eventhough i'm an at&t customer to get signal.

hmm... i called att but they said since it is an iphone i gotta do that at activation. Can i use a different plan on the iphone?

ahhhh i guess you can't add it through the website. Put the sim card into your RAZR then go add Media Net Unlimited. $15 plan and it will work on your iphone.

russ u just got screwed....that ebayer is a make ebay to ruin everything, he wont pay and wont respond bc he has nothing to lose if u give him a negitive. i sell only to ppl with atleast 5 positives and paypal only with shipping address confirmed, there legit ebayers, ur situation u will need to wait a week for the dispute to settle then resell

When you re-list it, make sure Paypal Account is Required and use the Buy it Now option. (They're selling now for around $400-450) and make sure Immediate Payment Required That stops a lot of the scammers from bidding. Should sell the same day. Mine sold within 10 minutes of auction start. Last one sold within 5 minutes. Both sold to legitimate buyers.

Good luck with that. I tried to get another one with a different email and credit card but they canceled it two minutes after the order was completed. Guess they're going by shipping address's now to verify and only allow one per household...

How could it be?? Maybe the billing address on your credit card and and the shipping address is not the same? That's the only reason I could think of.

Well, I don't think that it's because of different shipping addresses and what not only because Before they even confirmed it I spaced that my credit card does have a different address and they said that it couldn't be validated right away. And yeah, I had my mom order it but she wants some of my profits.

ordered, went thru the process online. said its all good got the email: Your order has been completed, got a conformation number, etc. im in wait and see mode now.

having read all these posts, i just calls the CS dept. i told her i was just trying to verify if these were still available, knew they sold quickly last time. she said as long as the website lists them as available, they have them. i double checked, these are refurb right? not new 8gb phones? yes, refurb. she went into the system and said they show 732 available as of this time.

guess ill find out.

It takes exactly 2 minutes. If they cancel , your next email will say "we canceled your order" in the subject line.

Edit: If you haven't ordered one before then you should be fine. In that case your next email will be the shipping information and tracking number later today or tomorrow...

I had to order another one. My wife stole the one I bought last week. I used the same address and it got cancelled right away. So I got my brother to use his address and credit card. So far so good. I learned so much about the unlocking process during the last couple of days that I think things will go so much better. Iliberty+ is the route I am taking this time around.

Thanks guys!!! I've been wanting an iPhone to hold me over until the 3G model comes out, but I didn't want to pay full price so this is perfect. I've seen the posts about these the last few days, but I didn't get in on it while it was active until today.

Edit: And mine was shipped 2-Day as well. I'm not sure how the guy above got overnight unless he paid extra.

Well I placed the order from work today used my wife's name and credit card but I used the same address from last week and it got canceled within minutes. Called my brother and placed the order again from my work and he gave me his info over the phone and it hasn't been canceled yet. There is a charge pending on his card for 264. So it looks good so far.

Hello everyone.

I recieved my iphone (DHL left it on the front porch when I wasnt home 8^).

It seems to be in great shape and Perfect working order. I unlocked it in minutes with ILiberty+, It's pretty easy.

I havent tried much calling yet, dare i say the voice quality seems average on the handset (although again, I only made 2 calls). Everything else is about a million times better than my nextel

I used a different credit card, with my wife's name only on the acct, but the shipping and billing address' were the same.

As I read the posts, both here and in other threads, it certainly seems like there are only a couple scenarios where one could get multiple refurbs. This should work without having to leave your house or have someone else order one for you.

1. Shipping and billing address must match
2. That address must be different than your first refurb order
3. Must order using different IP or provider

One of the blogs I check out had a couple users say that they had multiple orders go through by doing the above. One user ordered the first one on hi computer, which has cable modem (Comcast). He then used a credit card of his sister, who has a different billing and shipping address on her credit card. With that card, he says he was able to use his AT&T cellphone to order another iPhone. This all took place last week, and he confirmed that both iPhones are now in his possession.

No, I don't really believe they're checking IPs because first of all, it's more work for them, secondly, it's easy to fake the IP address. With the physical address, it's easy, simple and you can't fake it because the name on the credit card must match with name that orders and the billing address must match with the delivery address. So why AT&T should go extra step just for a freaking phone, it's not like we order drug or anything.

I said the same thing. I was hoping that it would ship yesterday and that it would get it by Friday as some did last week, but Tuesday is looking real clear now. That's one thing I miss about T-Mo. You order a phone by 6PM and it's shipped by the end of the day and with express shipping the phone was pretty much overnighted. Oh well, those days are over, bring on the iPhone

true, and i figured with the phones being shipped from texas it wouldn't be more than two days. if the use DHL i doubt i see mine before this time next week. DHL is a cluster here. if they use fed or ups i might see it on sat or monday.

when i was going thru the return phone thing thru att all my replacement phones came from texas. they said 2 days and it was 2 days. when i ordered i was hopeful. then again people said they were only charging you when it shipped. it showed not pending but a cleared charge @ 5am this morn. who knows.

When I first signed up with AT&T a couple of weeks ago I got my phone in 2 days via UPS. I don't like DHL because they will leave your package at your front door. I'm still hoping that by the time I get my shipping notification that it will be time very close to here. The holiday is Monday so no deliveries will be made then. Worst case is that I may give DHL a call to see if I can pick it up once it arrives.

I ordered a refurb in time yesterday, received a confirmation email that I would receive in 3-5 days, and my credit card had a temporary charge.
Looking today, I have not received a tracking number or a rejection email. The temporary charge on my account is gone.
What should I make of that?

I wouldn't think too much of it. When I 1st ordered I got an email 2 days later because I had to use my wife's check card, waiting for mine to arrive in the mail, and they had the check card processed under my name and it came back denied. I called and the lady got it squared away and gave me my total of $267.05. I haven't seen a pending charge yet. No tracking info either, but I am thankful that I didn't receive another rejection email. Guess we have to play the waiting game now. I remember some people posting last week when they ordered them they received theirs on that following Friday.

Yeah it's nerve wrecking. I've checked the order status page a couple of times today and I've got nothing, but this happened when I first got on with AT&T so I'm not really shook by it, just a little impatient for my iPhone

here is what i used.

1 888 333 6651 there are four or five prompts and one is check the status of an order. its was automated. 1 - 2 - 1 say order number then order status. mine just says the same as 8am this morn, order is activated and will ship in 24 hrs. would be nice cause they did charge already.

If it helps anyone else, you can try 866-499-8008. It is the Premier order dept which apparently is handling these orders and not the other 'tards in Web Order/Customer service. They pulled my order up right away and gave me info. Happy days.

Extra trouble? Have you ever built a website before? Your information is stored in their server already. A quick addition to the XHTML doc and a your order can easily be flagged and sent to the "rejection" room. Literally about an hour's worth of coding.

They acknowledged my order, saw that I had ordered the 8gb refurb yesterday and that the order was sent to the warehouse for shipping. Unfortunately not a tracking#, but last time I ordered a phone Premier didn't send me a trk# until after it was already on my doorstep. I have found with many orders thru AT&T they don't seem "all together" kinda like this:

Yeah, but logistically this may not be possible. I purchased a refurb at the store and the guy wouldn't let me leave without activating an account in store, even though the account would then on later be associated with the iPhone via iTunes.

(He also sold me a new contract, for the iPhone, with a FAN discount and must have known full well that once I plugged in the iPhone, it would tell me that it was going to cancel my FAN discount).

One other note, and I'm sorry that I've gotten off-topic, but if you buy a refurb, you must go online to Apple's site and check the warranty status at https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

The refurbs are supposed to have one year from *your* purchase date, however they often only have one year from the original purchasers date (first purchase after manufacture).

Apple makes it easy to fax them a receipt and then they'll update your warranty.

In my case, however, Apple denied it because I had already canceled my AT&T account (AT&T were such jerks, how could I not?), so if your plan is to unlock the iPhone, then make sure you update the warranty first. Whether or not Apple agrees to service your unlocked phone later is another issue, but I can guarantee that they won't if they think that you're past your warranty date.

I just called the Premier number. They placed me on hold for several minutes and then said that the order was just dropped at the warehouse and will be shipped out today. So I guess the free overnight Fedex was a mistake on my niece's order page...

Wouldn't surprise me either. This may be the case for all orders that they would go out today and we would get a confirmation between today and tomorrow.

Both time I ordered refurbs (from the first two rounds) it took at least 13 hours from my order confirmation email to get a DHL tracking number in my shipping confirmation email.

I called the number that was shared on the thread previously not the premier but the other 7am pST today and the rep looked it up and said it was going to be picked up today (friday May 23rd). I had placed the order on Wed. I requested for the tracking number and was told that I'd recieve it after it was picked up. I am hoping that I am one of those lucky folks who get it today and want to assume that the rep was wrong but that is a long shot. He was not able to tell me if it was DHL or UPS for sure but indicated that the warehouse typically uses DHL. If he is right I will not have this till Tue/Wed of next week i.e May 28th.

Looks like mine will not be picked up till Tue next week . Their 2 day shipping policy is after it has been notified to the warehouse which about a few days. So the overall shipping is around 4-5 business days + 2 days after DHL picks up.

yeah, complete BULL SH*T. i called CS on friday and told them to cancel the damn order. on sat i called to make sure it was in there system as cancelled. she couldn't tell me if it was or not so i asked about the order status. she didnt know, transferred me to the "premier" dept, the online order dept, etc etc. BS BS BS. dont know where it it, if its back ordered, if its on mars? if they do send it to me im going to just refuse delivery since i use a mail service, they can tell the driver to take it back. fawk it. my n95 is gonna be here on thursday anyway.

they couldn't find my order, period. they said my order conformation number wasn't correct, told me it should start "100 or 110" or something - but actually the order wasn't in the system. couldn't find my order by cell number, address, first and last name etc.

when i told her that i had my cc statement open in the other window and what i was charged, when, etc she told me that my order was never generated. charged for the phone but its just not in the system.

she gave me a separate number to call on tuesday, said i could try monday but they are running a skeleton crew and answer times would be long due to no staff. i told her eff it and just process the refund to which she said she couldn't cause she would have to xfer me to another department and they weren't there on saturdays.

EFF ME!!

so im gonna try to call tomorrow cause ill be at work anyway and can kill some time. i just find it hard to believe that ive got a order invoice that was generated 10 min after i placed the order online but no one can find anything. and best of all the calls thurs and fri people said it was "in progress". CAPTIAL WTF...

To be fair, these refurbs were only available for less than an hour. I'm not surprised that they ran into issues with not being able to fill the orders. Can you imagine how many people ordered during that time? The system probably wasn't even able to keep up. Second, we're coming out of a holiday weekend. I don't appreciate the order taking almost two days to be processed, but it's also understandable.

I feel for those who have had a hard time so far, but I can only imagine the number of people who won't be posting in this forum that had no problems whatsoever. Even with my order, the only thing I'm disappointed about is that I had to dig to get my tracking number and the processing time took so long. Other than that, not a big deal at all, and I've certainly dealt with much worse.

AT&T strikes again. There was story posted about a customer either on here or macrumors that received the infamous plastic bag by itself. AT&T handled these orders very poorly and bit off more than they can chew. I'm not mad though, just gave me a chance to truly appreciate my BB Curve and decide to wait on the Bold

I told her how disappointed I was in how AT&T handled this situation. My order was allegedly processed days after the order, I received a tracking number by digging to find it, I was told the tracking number was for a refurbished iPhone being sent via DHL 2-day, my credit card has already been charged, I receive a BAG in the mail, and they can't cancel the order because it's "already been sent to the warehouse".

piss poor is an understatement. i told her that i would be calling back to speak with someone when i got out of work today and i had time. she said she would note that, yeah whatever.

i just got a call from "resolutions dept". i guess after calling and calling it triggers something in their system. a lady told me she was following up on my "complaint". well its more than a freakin complaint. told her the whole story, told her she could check out this thread etc about the pissed off people. my biggest ***** is being charged 270 something and for nothing.

she confirmed that they cant cancel the order due to the status, its "in process". i told her it was bull sh*t and i want to cancel my contract. its due in june anyway. i went on to explain that i had been with cingular since 99 and gone thru the whole att thing twice. explained how cs has gotten worse, the phones have gotten worse etc.
i told her since they have 270 something of my money they could just apply that to the charge, pro rated of course, and cancel my service and i would gladly go to altell, verizon, etc.

most of that was bs, ive had verizon (sucked like a vacuum) and nextel (pain doesnt describe that experience) so i was kinda bluffing. she told me she would credit my acct one month of service. not bad, a start. still, what i told her and my chief bi*ch was selling phones you dont have is just bad business. she acknowledge that and said the refurbs are almost gone, they have a shipment coming in from california this week. she said they might ship by wed but it could be thurs. email tracking will be generated when they ship and they are coming from texas. for a free month worth of service i think ill stick out the week. she did say that some orders will not get filled so i guess its a real crap shoot.

I just called in and asked about my order. The CSR told me they got more stock in over the weekend and that my order should ship out within 24 hours. He said some customers have received bags but that the phones themselves will ship from a different location, so that may explain the empty bags that customers like Johnny have received. I just hope my CSR was informed and not just full of ****, but we'll see when the time comes. If it goes like it should, I should have my phone by Friday.

It was kinda funny though, he said he had a feeling it was about the refurb iPhone before he even opened my order, so I guess they've received a few of the calls today. Haha.

Just like I mentioned, I ordered about 2 weeks ago, they shipped it in 2 boxes, the smaller box with the iphone in it, and the other one, bigger box with just a freaking plastic bag! same exact thing here, but my card hasn't been charged yet. but when i called they said it's being processed and whatnot.

That's all fine well and good, but have you actually read through this thread. AT&T does NOT have the iPhone in stock and mostly everyone who has placed an order is on backorder and there is no guaranteed date for when the phone to arrive at the warehouse.

Yes, i have read through, I know they aren't in stock, they also werent last week when i placed my order. I dont care if the $ is tied up while they sort out supply issues. If you had read this thread you will see I am one of the lucky few with the infamouse plastic bag. WTF? so yes ladies and gentlemen, ATT knows that they know they are sending an empty box out with a plastic bag in the box. and to top that off even if you get a box/bag super dooper combo you STILL ain't getting a phone anytime soon. there aren't any!!!

according to both if you ordered a phone your screwed. they said they have phones coming but it could be next week or next month. they can tie up your credit card funds as long as it takes to get a phone in, get the order processed at the warehouse level and shipped to you.

i told the cu*t again, CANCEL THE ORDER. nope, cant do it cause the order has been dropped at the warehouse. again, WTF. what has been dropped? there are no phones to send IE: what are you sending me. we are sending a bag in a box. so i ask what its for and no one could tell me. but they all know that the plastic bag is being sent out.

its times like this that im glad that i have an amex. their fraud dept must be staffed by very angry people whose mission in life is to just inflict pain. i called them and told them the deal, it will be reversed in 24hrs. i logged on to the cc acct and i already have a message from the fraud dept with the case number, the agent i spoke with, the amount, etc.

yes i also saw, and called them to ask, it's $249 but when i walked to the AT&T store they shut me down and said i can't without a contract

Only a hold but funds not released. Checked again with AT&T today and indeed there is no ETA and the CS confirmed that I'll be charged once it leaves the warehouse. I guess this works like the airline booking from an overbooking perspective with the exception that their forecast was poor in this case. Did not try to cancel yet but patience is running out

Horrible stories here. Do you guys know if you can purchase refurb iPhones direct from Apple and not have to deal with AT&T? This is just something I wanna keep a look out on in the future.

You can but they're more expensive. My last refurb was from AT&T and it was an 8gb for $350. Of course I didn't have any problems with that order at all.

My story is similar, ordered the 21st, order # 42195xxxxx, no phone, no bag, no nothing, BUT, I'm looking at my amex online statement, and I see I haven't been charged.
Anyone having the same?

Yeah mine is the same way as yours. I called in today and got the same response that it is backordered but that it will ship soon. I was tempted to cancel but as I was not in a hurry I said I'd wait. The CS indicated that a lot of calls in the last few days have been about iPhone being backordered. Another warehouse has been contacted and indications on their system is that it will ship soon i.e No ETA....No charge on my card so am ok.
