I'm going to run a victory lap around the Solo queue once those beavers are gone. -AND- file an exception for it.

Posted by: frankie5string

I think the last commercial with them serving champagne to the two hot chicks took the "beaver" concept a little too far ... ;-) "It's the furniture, isn't it?" ...

It's been pretty quiet on the ad front ...

I don't mind having that image on my Phone but Bell will need some massive phones to fit that image...

Posted by: baxbunny

lol, cool! haha what are we going to do! whats F&G? does someone want to explain? too lazy to google..

Posted by: dmoon74

speaking of f&g, when is telus going to stop using the animal ads from the clearnet days?

Frank and Gordon, the 2 beavers Bell use in adds.

Posted by: OpenWave

OK Fido has dogs, Telus had bunnies, lizards, hamsters and now birds. Bell has beavers!
To this date I have never seen any of these animals use a cell phone!
The beaver is a very destructive rodent which destroys The eco-system. We need to get them off the nickle and off the Bell advertizing campagne and brought to the SPCA.
F&G= Frank & Gordan

Posted by: frankie5string

For what it's worth, the team that developed and nurtured Frank and Gordon have left Cossette and now Bell is free to more or less walk away from Cossette as their advertising contract wasn't renewed. People at Cossette have been canned because of this.

Posted by: frankie5string

Look how few people know it's actually "FRANK and GorDON" ... lol... so much for staying power...

Posted by: clewis4u91

lol OpenWave actually the Bell beavers have been seen in commercials using the services.

and manbearpigs

*shifty eyes*

Posted by: dirtyjeffer

at manbearpigs

reminds me of this:

Burns: I suggest you leave immediately.

Homer: Or what? You’ll release the dogs, or the bees, or the dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark they shoot bees at you? Well, go ahead—do your worst!

Burns slams the door and locks it

Homer:disbelieving "He locked the door! I’ll show him"—rings the doorbell and runs away

Posted by: OpenWave

Beavers also eat a lot of trash, just look what was found in this poor unfortunate rodent.

On the contrary, beavers are very constructive and foster wetlands that are the very building blocks of the eco-system.

Hmm, although that may be somewhat true however they are still pests as in this excerpt here;

Known as ecosystem engineers, beavers turn streams into ponds by cutting down trees and building lodges and dams. Their dams slow water's flow, raise its temperature, and cut oxygen levels. While these conditions favor some organisms, those that depend on cooler, faster water die out. These busy builders cause millions of dollars of damage due to timber and agricultural crop loss, damage to roads, septic systems, and ornamental plants.

Don't mock the beavers!

http://rackjite.com/archives/912-Sent-by-God-Killer-Beavers-of-Wisconsin!.html

WOMEN IN CANOE KILLED BY TREE FELLED BY BEAVER
Superior, Wis. -- A 76-year-old woman canoing the Brule River was killed when a tree that had been gnawed by a beaver fell and landed on her head, authorities say. The woman was paddling with her daughter about 1:45 pm Thursday in the town of Cloverland when the tree fell, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter was not hurt. Authorities didn’t release the women’s names pending notification of relatives. It was “a freak of nature” accident, Sheriff Marvin Arneson said. The poplar tree was about 18 inches in diameter and 30-40 feet tall.
The chances of such an incident happening are so unlikely that a higher power must have been at work Arneson said. “Non-Christians say there is nothing out there that controls their lives,” he said. “I believe there is a greater being who has control over whether we live or die. I think this situation proves it.” Milwaukee Journal

I'd love to see a Bell ad when F&G take care of those stupid kids in those Rogers commercials.

thanks for posting that

The rogers ads are annyoing, but the girls are kinda cute....... particularly in the new on where they're wearing bikinis.

Posted by: frankie5string

Yah, I don't hold Bell's advertising group in particularly high regard. Anyone remember this: http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_14732.aspx
Which appeared at Downsview Station in Toronto.

To add insult to injury, that ad was posted on a relatively low-hanging billboard in an area populated by many many orthodox jews. Right above a strip of street which housed a few small storefront synagogues... When Bell said that they didn't "Notice it" they actually were taken to the area and asked to look at the sign - the button was clearly visible and readable at street level.

Yeah, I remember that case. I seem to recall that Bell's explanation was that they only saw small scale versions of the ads, in them the buttons weren't readable. It was only when the whole picture was blown up to whatever size that anyone could read the buttons.

Stupid oversight, but an oversight none the less.

It's a song.
Quote:
Belsen was a gas I heard the other day
In the open graves where the jews all lay
Life is fun and I wish you were here
They wrote on postcards to those held dear
Oh dear

Sergeant majors on the march
Wash the bodies in the starch
See them all die one by one
Guess it's dead guess it's glad
So bad

Be a man be a man Belsen was a gas
Be a man kill someone kill yourself be a man

Yah wasn't it a Johnny Rotten composition? I think if you look hard enough you can kinda see where they blotted out "Sex Pistols" above it...

So SOMEONE must have been looking at it and known that'd be offensive at the Ad agency... It was offensive as a song, it's still offensive as a visual cue... and imagine all those religious elders walking by - who don't know of the song but certainly know of Belsen-Bergen...
