Can someone once and for all give me a quick tutorial on skinning a Motorola W385? I know it is supposed to be a long process, but if you're willing to type it I'm willing to try it. I just tried a method for putting a Windows XP skin on my phone. All it succeeded in doing was wiping out my signal strength and battery life display at the top of the screen. I've restored them, but I'm just a little disappointed that it didn't work. So please, if someone could just give me a little help. I use P2k Commander, and I know how to use it quite well; you won't have to tell me how to get it to detect my phone and so forth.
Thx in adv

ok, its actually hard.. or next to impossible without an application
Skinner4Moto will not work for the w385 because its not designed to do a 128x160 screen. I am currently working on an app and have it working enough to get by for now.
I have 3 skins created so far: XP, XP_Noire, & Pirate skin. The Noire skin is the most complete but none of them are totally done.. (Im stuck on a few changes that wont seeem to work) but they are good enough to release

I tried, it didn't work. In fact, yours was the skin I tried applying, and it removed my signal strength and battery life indicator, as well as anything that appears near the top of the screen
. I tried installing the skin like you said. Since you were not specific about the Verizon skin already on the phone, I left it on there, but when that didn't work, I went back and removed it, which is probably why the stuff disappeared. Luckily I copied the files to my PC first.
Also, I didn't copy the outer display file or the opening display, since I already have my own custom versions of those. Those shouldn't be necessary though.

....You CANNOT skin your phone if you have the Verizon UI on it
You have to flash it to the MotoUI in order for this to work.
