How to use GPS on 8330

Newbie to the BB community. I just got my Curve 8330 with Alltel. I have the location turned on. I am wondering if I have to buy an external puck or if the internal GPS really does work. Is there a fee I have to pay for it to work w/o a puck? How long should it take for BB maps to find me? DO I have to be outside in an open area?

If GPS is enabled on the device, you need to be outside with a clear view of the sky. It can take 10 minutes or longer to locate yourself. If you are using GoogleMaps or BBMaps, it helps to try to locate yourself as close as possible to your exact location.

Do a search on GPS and also visit the GPS section at blackberryforums.com

The internal receiver should work for you. AFAIK Verizon is the only carrier that restricts use of the GPS receiver.

You pay for GPS software, depending on the GPS app you choose -- not to use the GPS receiver.
