New to the iPhone and very very confused.

So I'm getting an 8GB iPhone in the next few days. I came on here to read up and familiarzie myself w/ the modding stuff. I read the new user sticky thread, and a lot of other threads here and I'm still very confused.

So when I get the iPhone, what do I need to do to JailBreak and activate it? I dont need to unlock as I am using AT&T already (i might have to add a data plan though).
-From what I understand I need to plug the new iPhone into, open iTunes, and restore to the newest firmware 1.1.4.
-Then I open ZiPhone, iPlus, iLiberty or whatever to jailbreak and actiivate?
-When I'm done w/ this - the installer.app should be on my phone right?
Is this correct?

I read that iPlus automatically installs Installer, Community Sources, BSD Subsystem, OpenSSH and Terminal. iPlus seems to be the best out of all these types of apps because it includes the extras. Do I need all these??

All I want to do is get some apps like the NES emulator, some games, some business apps, and custom ringtones and springboard (for theme?).

Pls help, this is all very confusing. Whats the easiest way to do this?

After updating use iplus to activate, jailbreak and unlock (if you intend to use SIM from another company). You are correct about iplus.

Get iLiberty+ its from the people who made iPlus just this one is a graphical version and you can ore add fixes that are reported. You will need ssh to put files manually on the iPhone. Its really simple.

What's up with the ipluspwns.com web site??? That's where I originally downloaded iLiberty. The forums were ok too.

Cool, I didnt know iLiberty was the GUI version of iPlus. I think i'll go w/ that. Will iLiberty automaticly put Installer and OpenSSH on the phone too?

Anyone know where to get iLiberty?? I cant find it anywhere.

I will upload it on a site. Like I said you can get apps pre-installed. You just select them in the tools section I think. Its really easy I use. I will either use rapidshare or megaupload or 4shared later.

EDIT: I don't have the .exe installer. .

Thx Tito.

Hey when I 1st get the phone will I need to "restore" it to 1.1.4 in iTunes 1st before using iLiberty?

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Nah. If its an OTB 1.1.4 just jailbreak away. Oh and get iDemocracy also. It has other important tools you might need later on. I use it to change the IMEI so the network identifies it as another phone. I would use iLiberty to jailbreak and pre install aps and iDemocracy to do everything else.

I am on my other computer and I have iLiberty for the lazy's. I will put everything you need in a folder on my 4shared account so you don't have to search as much for help.

Also what ever you do don't use ziPhone, iDemocracy basically does everything it does but better and more reliable.

Thx man! I appreciate it!

iDemocracy looks pretty good, I'll def check it out!

Sweet!
I downloaded iLiberty and opened it up. It seems very simple!

I cant find the openssh-4.6p1-1.zip or openssh-4.6p1-2.zip anywhere.
Whats the difference between the two, and does anyone have it?

Get the one with the 2, its a higher version.

I cant find it. All the links are dead. Do you have it by chance?

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

iLiberty should have it in its repository of things to DL to pre-install on your iPhone, it should be under the tools tab, if not its somewhere in iLiberty.

Your link takes you to the iphoneproject, but the iLiberty dl is ver 1.2.0.65. Anyone know where I can get ver 1.3? I cant find 1.3 anywhere.

Also http://george.insideiphone.com/ is always down.

Thx!
