why wont the iphone show a timestamp for every text sent/received...

i like to know when i get/send each of mine sometimes and the iphone only shows the timestamp sometimes during a convo.

for example i hadnt talked to a certain person thru text for half of the day, then i sent them one at 8:31pm, then another one to them after no reply at 8:44pm and it only showed a timestamp for the 8:31 text.

the same will happen if you have a convo with someone where u both reply pretty quick, it will show a timestamp for the 1st one sent then randomly show one thruout the convo at random times.

very annoying.

and no, i dont want to have to rely on other apps like iSMS or wetool, etc etc..

and speaking of WeTool.. is there any way to switch it from 24 hour mode to 12 hour mode?

+1, I find this VERY annoying. It seems like the SMS app randomly displays the time stamp whenever it wants.

Because that would be too useful.

Not saying Apple couldn't or shouldn't have put it in, but why do you need to know exactly when every text was sent or received?

And by the way for that 8:44 one you sent, it would have showed 8:44 on the main text screen.

because it would be good to know when the text was sent...just like how you would like to know when you received a miss call...

i know it shows the last one on the main screen, but that doesnt help me for convo's or when it doesnt show a time stamp.

there should be a fix for this or something. its to simple of a function not to have.

I dunno. I do my fair share of complaining, about how ****** viewmymessage.com is for instance, but this just seems like a very trivial thing to complain about. It never goes for longer than a half hour before placing another timestamp and a find it hard to believe that there is a need to pinpoint it more than that.

Apple took this feature out becuase they knew it would somehow confuse their user base.

You can find the exact time in the text log in WeTool.

isnt the sms timefix for people whos text messages show up in the wrong order, or show 4 hours earlier than its supposed to?

mine are in the right order/correct time. it just doesnt show the time very often during a convo, so you dont know what time each text was sent/received.

and i have WeTool... but its in 24 hour time, not 12

because every other "free" phone does.

its the same thing as ichat with the time stamps

On my current phone I use this feature when members of the family are travelling. I use the time delivered time to tell me if they have landed and when....

A very useful feature...too bad it seems the iPhone is a bit challenged here.

Well I found that my time stamps are incorrect all together. When i get a text message at 8:00pm it will say 4:44pm.

Thats weird huh.

I would like this feature also. Where is this time fix?

There is no time stamp for each sms because that would conflict with the copy and paste feature. LOL....... I made a funny!!!!

apple had better be doing some serious coding for 2.0
